Summary
- Avowed only just launched in its Early Access state on Steam, but it’s off to a strong start.
- It’s currently the top-selling game in the UK, only being beaten out by the Steam Deck which doesn’t really count.
- As for reviews, it’s sitting at a “Very Positive” score right now with more than 500 reviews already.
It seems that the initial release of Avowed on Steam has been successful, with positive responses leading to many “Very Positive” reviews. Currently, it’s the highest selling game on the platform.
As Avowed approached its launch, there was a significant amount of player apprehension regarding its final outcome. Setting aside the controversies surrounding the game during the past year, the absence of marketing and release in a particularly crowded month raised concerns, even though early previews showed promise.
Yesterday, most Obsidian enthusiasts could finally let out a big sigh of relief as the review restrictions for Avowed were lifted, unveiling generally favorable reviews on OpenCritic. This optimistic vibe has since been transferred to the game’s early access launch via its Digital Deluxe Edition.
Avowed Is Off To A Great Start On Steam

As a devoted fan, I can’t contain my excitement! Though the general public has to wait until next week for Avowed, those who splurged on the Digital Deluxe Edition have already dived in, and judging by the Steam top-sellers list, it seems like quite a crowd. In fact, only the much-anticipated Steam Deck is outranking Avowed, but let’s be honest – a console can’t exactly play itself!
Additionally, it’s noteworthy to mention that Avowed will be available on Xbox Game Pass. The fact that it’s selling well even in its early access phase indicates a high level of anticipation among players, implying many are eagerly looking forward to obtaining it via Game Pass next week.
The game Avowed is not only selling briskly on Steam, but it’s also garnering positive feedback from those who have already started playing. On its Steam page, Avowed currently boasts a “Very Positive” rating based on over 500 reviews, with the sentiment becoming increasingly favorable as we speak.
Players on Steam are lauding Avowed for its engaging combat, captivating Pillars of Eternity environment, impressive performance on both PC and Steam Deck, and numerous other aspects, with some players already investing over 10 hours into the game. However, it’s worth noting that while Avowed has generally positive reviews, it appears not everyone has been immediately smitten with it, as we pointed out in our review round-up.
Some players are calling it “lifeless” and too simplistic, which are similar critiques to what top-mob.com‘s Editor-In-Chief Stacey Henley had to say about it in her review. It seems that Avowed might be a bit of a marmite RPG but, for now at least, the overall consensus seems to be a positive one.
