Awkwafina to Appear on The CW’s KCON L.A. Live Broadcast (Exclusive)

As a huge fan of Awkwafina and K-pop, I am beyond excited about her upcoming appearance as a special guest during The CW’s live broadcast of KCON Los Angeles! Her unique energy and versatility will undoubtedly add an extra layer of excitement to the evening.

Actress Awkwafina has been announced as a participant in this year’s live performance of KCON Los Angeles by The CW, according to an exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter.

During the prime-time transmission of the K-pop festival, the 36-year-old actress will make a surprise appearance alongside hugely famous Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun as his special guest.

I’m thrilled to share that just last week, Nexstar-owned broadcast network and Korean powerhouse CJ ENM made an exciting announcement! They’re teaming up for the live telecast of KCON L.A.’s Sunday night concert on July 28, airing at 8 p.m. ET. This marks a historic first – the very first primetime national TV broadcast of a K-pop performance show in the United States!

“Harry H.K. Shin, head of music entertainment at CJ ENM, expressed his enthusiasm in a statement about an innovative K-Pop broadcast. He’s thrilled that Awkwafina will join as a special guest, fulfilling his long-held wish. Her vibrant character and magnetic stage presence will create an unforgettable experience for the entire nation.”

As a long-time fan of K-pop, I’m absolutely thrilled about the star-studded lineup for The CW’s Sunday night concert! Growing up, I’ve always been in awe of the energy and passion that K-pop artists bring to their performances. And now, I can’t believe that some of my favorite acts, like Enhypen, BIBI, Hyolyn, INI, TWS, ME:I, Jeon Somi, NCT 127, STAYC, Zerobaseone, and Zico, are all coming together for one epic event. It’s a dream come true for me! I can only imagine the excitement and electricity in the air as they take the stage. This is a moment that I, as a devoted K-pop fan, will cherish forever.

Seven new contestants from the South Korean music survival show “I-Land 2: N/a,” who formed the girl group Izna, were originally planned to perform at KCON L.A. However, the festival announced on Friday night that Izna wouldn’t be able to participate due to unexpected visa problems.

For over ten years, KCON, which is known for its global K-pop concerts and discussions, has been a regular feature in Southern California. Los Angeles, in particular, holds a special significance as the primary location for this CJ ENM-produced festival series.

As a gamer excitedly immersed in the K-pop scene, I’m thrilled to share that this year’s three-day extravaganza – set at the Crypto.com Arena, L.A. Convention Center, and Gilbert Lindsay Plaza in downtown Los Angeles – offers me an incredible opportunity to witness some of my favorite groups up close. Going beyond previous events, KCON has planned an impressive lineup with no less than four stages!

During the daytime of the festivity, fans are treated to engaging activities and lively shows. The day concludes with a nightly concert held at Crypto.com Arena. This year’s festival is generously supported by Samsung Galaxy as its main sponsor.

The L.A. festival will take place July 26-28, with tickets available on the festival’s website.
