‘Bachelorette’ Star Jenn Tran Says She’s “Healing” and Focusing on Herself Through ‘DWTS’ Journey

As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in various reality TV shows, I must admit that this latest season of “Dancing With The Stars” is shaping up to be quite an intriguing rollercoaster ride! From the drama surrounding Jenn Tran and Devin Strader, to the unexpected appearance of Anna Delvey sporting a bedazzled ankle monitor, it’s like watching a thrilling game of life unfold in real time.

On Tuesday evening, the 33rd season of Dancing With the Stars got underway with an hour and a half premiere episode.

Jenn Tran, who recently starred as the lead in “The Bachelorette” and was previously a cast member on Joey Graziadei’s season of “The Bachelor”, returned to the spotlight among this year’s contestants on “Dancing with the Stars”. Alongside her partner Sasha Farber, she performed a cha-cha routine to Miley Cyrus’ song “Flowers”. However, it was revealed earlier this month during the finale of “After The Final Rose” that Jenn and her final choice, Devin Strader, had parted ways between filming and the live broadcast.

On the very same day that Dancing with the Stars debuted, it emerged that Strader had been taken into custody and a restraining order was filed against him by a former partner prior to his appearance on the reality dating program. This restraining order, which had previously been kept confidential during The Bachelorette’s background check process, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, contained concerning information and sparked doubts about the ABC/Warner Horizon-produced series.

At the beginning of the DWTS filming, Tran avoided discussing rumors directly, but later shared with The Hollywood Reporter that the dance competition marked the start of a fresh chapter in her life. She also mentioned that she’s focusing on rejuvenating herself by channeling energy back into herself.

“[I’m] really just healing and focusing on me,” she said. “It’s been truly amazing.”

When inquired about how the “The Bachelor” series aided her in readying for “DWTS”, the 26-year-old chuckled and noted that both shows were quite distinct, yet her past reality show background proved beneficial. “Being on ‘The Bachelor’ and ‘The Bachelorette’, I simply had to be authentic and put my all into it, and I’m doing exactly the same thing here,” she stated.

Graziadei, the main character from season 28 of The Bachelor, was the first one to take the stage during Tuesday’s premiere. The 29-year-old reality television personality danced a cha cha with his partner, Jenna Johnson, to Tyler Hubbard’s “Dancin’ in the Country”.

Previously on “The Bachelor,” the contestant shared his reasons for joining the show: to challenge himself beyond his usual comfort zone. He expressed optimism about the future, stating that no previous “Bachelor” contestant has reached the finale. Therefore, his initial aim is to break this record. Beyond that milestone, he hopes for more achievements as well. In conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, he said, “My primary goal is to reach the finale since no ‘Bachelor’ participant has done so before. Whatever comes after that, I hope we can achieve additional goals too.

Graziadei mentioned that there are some parallels between his experiences on The Bachelor and DWTS. He explained, “I experienced the same nervous excitement before tonight’s show as I did during live episodes of The Bachelor.” However, he noted a key difference: “On The Bachelor, I simply express my feelings, whereas here on DWTS, I must also perform physically.

During the contest, one competitor’s chosen accessory sparked quite a buzz on social media. Known as Anna Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, she donned a blinged-out ankle tag during her performance. Prior to the event, Delvey had announced that she would be wearing this distinctive bracelet.

Anna Delvey, a person now known as a convicted swindler who posed as a German heiress, successfully deceived high-society figures in Manhattan out of hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, merchandise, and services. Her tale was portrayed on Netflix’s Inventing Anna, a series produced by Shonda Rhimes, with Julia Garner playing the role of Delvey.

Delvey stated that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement had given her authorization to participate in Dancing with the Stars. Recently, hosts of The View have expressed disapproval over Dancing with the Stars’ decision to include Delvey. “Much like many others, Anna has admitted her mistakes and has taken steps towards rectification by serving prison time and fully repaying all her debts,” Delvey’s lawyer said after The View discussed their initial comments during the September 15 broadcast.

During DWTS, they didn’t delve deeply into Delvey’s past, but judge Carrie Ann Inaba didn’t shy away from addressing it when offering feedback to Delvey and her partner, Ezra Sosa, after their dance.

Inaba expressed, “I’d like to share something. When you stepped onto the dance floor, there was a noticeable change in the atmosphere in here. I merely want to suggest that we all take a chance with this, understanding it might be intimidating for you. I’m neither for nor against anything you’ve done, but rather speaking about your dancing. Let’s create an environment where she can dance comfortably.

Following the performance, Delvey expressed to THR her desire to present a different aspect of herself to viewers. “I hope people will grant me an opportunity to progress with my life now that I’ve repaid my restitution and served my sentence,” she stated. Additionally, she showcased her bedazzled ankle monitor.

Dancing with the Stars airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
