Bad Company make a move in updated Rock and Roll Hall of Fame fan voting

Only three weeks remain for music enthusiasts to cast their votes for the potential inductees into the 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Since its inception, jam-band Phish has been leading the fan vote, although they may be considered a long shot for induction. However, they could potentially make it, becoming the second band after the Grateful Dead to enter primarily due to their exceptional touring abilities.

Last week, another band garnered more votes than Phish. Previously, Bad Company had been trailing slightly behind Billy Idol in third position, but managed to overtake him last week. This week, they are pulling away even farther from third place.

Over the past eight days, Phish garnered 21,880 votes, while Paul Rodgers and Bad Company accumulated 25,072. Regardless if Bad Company manages to overtake Phish before the end, both totals will contribute equally to a single ballot consisting of about a thousand votes each. While these fan votes hold significance, they only account for a portion of the overall outcome.

Bad Company gaining ground in 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame fan voting

From the pattern of fan voting in 2024, it seems that the individuals chosen are often included in the following year’s class. For instance, last year, the top five vote-getters were inducted into the hall of fame. I believe Bad Company, Billy Idol, and others who received significant votes deserve a place among them next time around.

Bad Company was an all-star band comprised of musicians from groups like Mott the Hoople (Mick Ralphs), King Crimson (Boz Burrell), Free (Simon Kirke and Paul Rodgers). They crafted hard rock masterpieces, infusing them with a generous helping of rhythmic flair. This group sold an impressive 40 million records globally and achieved five top-20 hits in the U.S.
