Bade Miyan Chote Miyan producer Vashu Bhagnani takes legal action against Ali Abbas Zafar over 'misappropriating funds' during shoot; REPORT

As a seasoned observer of the Bollywood industry, I must say, the ongoing saga between Vashu Bhagnani and Ali Abbas Zafar is a classic case of “he said, she said.” It seems that both parties are playing a game of musical chairs with each other’s finances.

There continues to be a longstanding dispute about Vashu Bhagnani’s production company Pooja Entertainment not fulfilling its financial obligations towards filmmakers, artists, crew members, and others. Most recently, director Ali Abbas Zafar lodged a complaint against Vashu for failing to pay his ‘director’s fee’. However, if recent claims are true, Vashu Bhagnani has responded by filing a lawsuit against Ali Abbas Zafar, alleging that he misused the funds.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m sharing some intriguing news that surfaced recently. In an unexpected turn of events, Vashu Bhagnani and Jackky Bhagnani, esteemed figures in Pooja Entertainment, have reportedly lodged a complaint at the Bandra Police Station against Ali Abbas Zafar. The complaint, filed on September 3, 2024, alleges that Mr. Zafar is suspected of misappropriating funds intended for our film shoot. These funds were granted by the Abu Dhabi authorities, according to a report by Bollywood Hungama. This allegation certainly adds an unexpected twist to our industry’s ongoing narrative.

According to their grievance, the producers assert that Ali Abbas Zafar is suspected of misusing funds allocated for the production of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, either for personal expenses or unapproved purposes. Bhagnani’s accusation against Ali Abbas has ignited worry within the film industry.

According to reports, it’s been mentioned that unpaid debts have been a topic of discussion since the producers submitted their complaint at the Bandra Police Station. Despite this, no action has been taken so far. However, there are expectations that director Ali Abbas Zafar will be called for questioning as the investigation into the matter continues. The report also stated this additional information.

On September 22, 2024, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) was informed by Ali Abbas Zafar about an unpaid debt from producer Vashu Bhagnani. According to FWICE, Ali Abbas is yet to receive his payment for directing Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s film produced by Pooja Entertainment.

In terms of his career, director Ali Abbas Zafar initially made his mark with the film “Mere Brother Ki Dulhan,” featuring Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Ali Zafar. Since then, he has taken charge of several other projects such as “Tiger Zinda Hai,” “Gunday,” “Sultan,” “Bharat,” “Jogi,” and “Bloody Daddy.” The upcoming film, “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,” which was released on April 11, 2024, had Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in the main roles. Unfortunately, during its premiere, “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” failed to impress at the box office.

In his role as a film producer, Jackky Bhagnani has supported projects such as Bell Bottom, Cuttputlii, Mission Raniganj, Ganapath, among others.
