Demna’s farewell collection for Balenciaga’s ready-to-wear line is approaching for Spring 2026. In this collection, the designer expresses a heartfelt tribute to the iconic “archetypes” he created at Balenciaga – the distinctive looks, silhouettes, emotions, and ideas that have become synonymous with his remarkable, ten-year reign at the House. Under his leadership, the Spanish label evolved from a $400 million USD enterprise into a colossal $2 billion USD entity.

As a gaming enthusiast, I found myself captivated by an exhibit titled “Exactitudes” – a tribute to the photographic work of Ari Versluis and Ellie Uyttenbroek. This fascinating collection showcases Demna’s unique anthropological perspective on fashion and societal dress codes, where we, as individuals, intersect with our cultural identities. In other words, it’s like stepping into a virtual world where the avatars represent real-life styles and norms – a truly engaging exploration of human diversity within the realm of fashion!

The designer explained that this assortment showcases a variety of design principles I’ve developed and explored during my ten-year journey with Balenciaga in fashion. It blends items from 35 distinct collections, as well as pieces from my personal wardrobe, to illustrate the shapes, styles, and perspectives that have shaped my vision and my exploration of modern clothing, including what people choose to wear, how they style it, and the delicate boundary between luxury and fashion.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but marvel at the remarkable transformation Demna has wrought on Balenciaga. His signature design elements, subtly hinted at in these very pieces, are a testament to his genius.
