Balmain Takes It Easy For FW25

It was thought that groutfits couldn’t be stylishly sophisticated? Balmain certainly proved otherwise! For their Fall/Winter 2025 collection, designer Olivier Rousteing transformed a comfortable assortment of oversized pieces, ranging from winged cardigans to loose sweaters, and yes, groutfits, into high fashion.

Leading the way, comfort set the pace. Plunging headfirst onto the catwalk, Rousteying initiated with his characteristic hooded shape, a sleek black, diving swan-neck sweater coupled with a leather peplum and loose-fitting leather pants. Although the upper attire retained a laid-back vibe, each knitwear item showcased formal elements, such as an eye-catching gold bracelet or bohemian chic boots with a slouchy fit. Combined, these high-low aspects brought to life a genuine off-duty model aesthetic.

Moving forward, it was all about the gaming gear that stole the show. While my outfit was primarily one tone, I mixed things up with various textures like a pleated skirt, embossed pants, or ruffled top. When the texture was plain, vibrant accents such as a plush coat or boots in tangerine color took center stage.

In other parts of the assortment, there was an ongoing radiance of glamour. A zebra-patterned trench coat, cargo overalls, leather weaving, and a striped peplum dress with stirrup pants showcased Rousteing’s exceptional talent in creating evening wear.

Glittering glamour continued to sparkle elsewhere within the selection. A zebra-striped trench coat, cargo jumpsuit, woven leather, and a striped peplum dress matched with stirrup leggings demonstrated Rousteing’s impressive eveningwear skills.

At the Oscars this past weekend, Doja Cat was spotted gracing the front row, not just as an observer but also as a performer. Known for her longstanding friendship with the household, she donned a stunning custom-made leopard Balmain gown adorned with beads.

Following the exhausting stretch of award ceremonies, Rousteying emphasized that laid-back outfits don’t necessarily equate to being overly casual; they simply require a sophisticated spin instead.
