According to Ringo Starr himself, Barry Keoghan will be taking on the role of Ringo Star in Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles films.
Starr expressed his excitement, telling Entertainment Tonight, ‘I think it’s fantastic!’ When asked about Keoghan’s potential casting, he added, ‘I imagine he’s out there practicing drums right now, and I just hope he’s not getting too good.’
Mendes is contemplating directing four standalone films focusing on individual band members – John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Starr. These movies are slated for separate theatrical releases by Sony Pictures. Although several actors like Paul Mescal and Joseph Quinn have been mentioned as potential cast members for this high-profile project, no official contracts have been signed yet. Sony declined to comment on the matter.
In conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Rothman stated that the audacity of the project necessitates a daring release approach. Since there’s no precedent for such an endeavor, conventional release tactics don’t apply.
Regardless if he gets cast as Starr, it’s evident that Keoghan’s fame is on an upward trajectory.
