Based On A True Story Season 2’s Ending Was A Game Changer, And I Need To Talk About It

As a seasoned TV enthusiast who has binged countless shows from around the globe, I must say that watching “Based On A True Story” was an absolute rollercoaster ride of emotions! The suspense and intrigue kept me on the edge of my seat, while the twists and turns left me utterly spellbound.

One of my favorite new series that debuted in 2023, “Based on a True Story,” was an original production by Peacock. This show, now airing its second season, successfully combined elements of horror and humor from the get-go. I strongly recommend it to others, and given its popularity, it seems like many people have been streaming it, as evidenced by Peacock’s decision to renew it for a second season. The second season of “Based on a True Story” has just premiered, and it continues to be as hilarious and captivating as the first.

Contrarily, it introduced additional jolts and twists, such as Ava (Kaley Cuoco) giving birth unexpectedly. Yes, Ava has a baby. Although some aspects of Based On a True Story Season 2 revolve around new motherhood, the show remains anything but tender-hearted. There’s still an abundance of murder and chaos. The exceptional Season 2 gradually leads to a thrilling climax.

As a gamer, I can tell you that this upcoming season is going to pack quite the punch with some significant twists and choices that might alter its course drastically compared to past seasons, much like an unexpected turn in a game based on real events.

Warning Based On A True Story Season 2 spoilers are ahead. Proceed with caution.

Matt Betraying Nathan Sets Up An Exciting Potential Season 3

The first season concluded with an unresolved mystery that sparked numerous queries, and the second season follows suit by introducing even more unanswered questions. The most significant one is whether Matt (Tom Bateman) will succeed in framing Nathan for all the murders. While it’s natural to think that Nathan might eventually prove his innocence, the current situation seems rather bleak for him.

Unwisely, Nathan placed too much faith in Matt, finding himself now in possession of a stack of incriminating documents stored securely in his private locker. Additionally, he has a widely-shared video that captures him reacting angrily to something, which he cannot justify without revealing his close association with Matt, the suspected serial killer on the loose. Nathan is finding himself in quite a predicament.

He’s been involved in illegal activities, but not these specific murders, which makes him guilty overall, but not for those particular crimes. This twist is intriguing because it sets Matt, Nathan, and Ava on opposing sides. For the past two seasons, they’ve reluctantly collaborated. If a new season unfolds this way, the tension between them will be engaging, as Matt appears to be more intellectually astute than the couple. However, when Ava and Nathan find themselves in direct peril, they become relentless and resourceful. The upcoming confrontation could end up being a balanced fight.

Additionally, we’ve noticed a gradual unveiling of Nathan’s more confrontational character. I’m intrigued to discover how he transforms following Matt’s deceit and experiencing the repercussions of his actions. It’s possible that his survival instincts will surface strongly.

Having Two Serial Killers Around Could Make Things Even More Deadly

In Season 2’s finale of “Based on a True Story”, it is unveiled that Chloe Lake’s (Natalia Dyer) sibling, Sara Paxton, is actually the Copycat Killer. Matt manages a short skirmish with her before gaining control. He subsequently abducts her. The last scenes of Season 2 depict him holding the bound Copycat Killer, stating they have much to discuss, and that’s where the season concludes.

Previously in the series, she led him to think that he had no impact on her, but it’s clear now that he ignited her desire for vengeance and even encouraged her to become a serial killer. We anticipate Matt taking pleasure in discovering that he transformed her into such a monster. Moreover, he appeared to admire Chloe’s sister’s skill in not just flawlessly committing multiple murders but also mocking him.

Since Matt didn’t kill her, it leaves room for various scenarios in their upcoming encounters. For instance, they might form a dangerous partnership in the realm of serial killing. Alternatively, Chloe’s sister and Matt could prove to be an almost invincible duo.

The only issue with that is that I doubt the Copycat Killer would want to work with him after he killed Chloe. She hates him. Therefore, it’s more likely they’ll become serial killer rivals. This is also a fun potential direction because I am rooting for her to outwit and kill Matt. It’s what he deserves and would give her some closure. The Copycat Killer is one of those unfortunate villains with understandable motives. She also falls into the villains with tragic backstories category. She deserves to achieve revenge before meeting her demise.

She has a high body count, yet her victims aren’t entirely guiltless. I’d rather see her mete out justice to Matt, either through his demise or incarceration. Both conclusions seem fitting for his narrative. Yet, in the third season of “Based on a True Story,” it might be less exciting if Matt were the one to kill Chloe’s sister initially.

Tory Has A New Role In Based On A True Story, But I Don’t Know What It Is Yet

In the thrilling sequel of “Based On a True Story,” I step into the limelight as Tory. Initially, I found myself drawn to Matt, convinced he could change despite his violent actions. Much like Nathan, I held onto that belief. However, as Season 2 unfolds, things take a dark turn when I end up murdering Matt’s ex-wife, Olivia (Melissa Fumero). This chilling act seems to push me towards the edge of madness, leading to a brief but intense episode where I kidnap Matt’s son, Ollie (Kellen Patino).

Later on, Tory awakens as Matt departs. It appears she’s coming to terms with the fact that Matt isn’t the wonderful man she thought he was. Moreover, she’s aware of the numerous crimes she’s committed which could easily land her in prison, not just because of Matt. Notably, Tory and Matt are married, but she has a lot on her plate at present.

Given that Tory possesses a counterfeit passport and recognizes the impending trouble, there’s a strong possibility she might choose to leave the country. However, she may also come across police reports indicating Nathan is being falsely accused of the murders. Additionally, she is aware of Ava’s danger. Tory, with her many intriguing storylines for future seasons, has me wondering about her next move. I’m eager to see where her journey takes us.

Nathan Being Arrested Seems To Be Setting The Series Up For The End Or Major Changes In Any Potential Future Based On A True Story Seasons

As a passionate fan, I find myself compelled to express my thoughts on the current situation between Nathan, Ava, and Matt in “Based On a True Story.” Their volatile friendship and work dynamic has reached a boiling point, leading me to believe that Season 3 must conclude with either Matt’s exposure or his departure from the scene. This dramatic turn of events seems like the most realistic direction for the season finale. If Matt were to meet his demise, it could potentially mark the end of the series, but it could also signify a new direction for the storyline.

In our current scenario, we’re considering the Copycat Killer as a possible adversary, or there could be another murderer joining the ranks. I’d be thrilled if by 2025, we had a series titled “Based On A True Story” on TV schedules, and I’d be fine if it concluded with Season 3. Maintaining its brilliance, it shouldn’t stretch the concept and narrative beyond that point to avoid becoming too lengthy. If it opts not to end at Season 3, introducing a new serial killer could keep things fresh and engaging. However, Matt can only sustain such a plot for so long before needing a change.

For the upcoming 2024 TV series lineup, Season 2 of the show based on real events was a highly anticipated watch for me. It certainly lived up to my expectations. Here’s hoping there will be another season following such an exhilarating season finale.
