- NCSoft’s multiplayer MOBA Battle Crush is set to be shuttered this November
- The move seems to be part of a wider corporate restructure at NCSoft
- Other games like Doguri Adventure and Miniverse have been affected
As a dedicated gamer and long-time fan of Battle Crush, I find myself disheartened by NCSoft’s decision to shutter this vibrant multiplayer MOBA. The game, which I fondly remember covering in my early days as part of the PocketGamer team, has been an enjoyable part of my gaming journey.
In an unexpected decision, NCSoft has chosen to discontinue their MOBA battle royale game, Battle Crush. The servers for this game will be turned off on November 29th. Purchases within the game will stop today, and a refund plan may become available on the same day that the game shuts down. This means that the end is approaching for fans of Battle Crush.
Closing Battle Crush, despite its recent overhaul and season 1.5 update, comes as a bit of a shock. Yet, considering the number of mobile games that have been abruptly shut down in the last few years, it’s not entirely unexpected.
According to Gematsu’s report, it appears that the decision was influenced, in part, by a corporate choice to create four new subsidiaries by separating certain business sectors. It’s quite possible that this move is linked to a larger company reorganization, which may have had a negative impact on Battle Crush, as well as NCSoft’s other games, Doguri Adventure and Miniverse.
Crushing defeat
As a gamer, I’ve got a special fondness for Battle Crush, being one of the first games I delved into when I stepped onto the gaming scene through PocketGamer. Although it wasn’t an all-time favorite, I appreciated its balance in graphics and gameplay, and my fellow gamers on the site saw potential in it too. It’s a bit disheartening to witness games like Battle Crush getting affected by corporate restructuring, leading to shutdowns or hindrances due to unrelated business decisions.
