As someone who’s spent countless hours in the trenches of urban fashion, I can’t help but feel a thrill at the emergence of BAA. The name might evoke images of bleating sheep, but this brand is anything but basic. With its roots tracing back to Bel-Air Athletics, backed by the legendary Will Smith, it’s no wonder their garments exude an air of timeless cool.
In late 2024, the combination of letters B-A-A might bring to mind the bleat of a sheep, a sound you were taught as a child. However, by the end of that year, BAA is set to represent something entirely different: it’s the name of a new brand, which takes pride in producing premium cotton essentials and crafting straightforward garments using expert techniques.
Previously recognized as Bel-Air Athletics, a sports apparel brand endorsed by Will Smith (Smith is not part of the relaunch), BAA draws inspiration from “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” (Smith’s TV series). The brand offers various items including crewnecks, hoodies, t-shirts, bodysuits, shorts, sweatpants, underwear, and socks primarily in basic black, grey, and white colors. Their inaugural collection will be released in three phases: “Everyday,” “Core,” and “Saint Perre.” BAA’s minimalist clothing items were first sported by Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma, fittingly as Kuzma recently decided to step away from the fashion trend of dressing in the locker room (tunnel fit) and opted for sweatsuits instead. The brand claims that approximately 30,000 hours, or around three and a half years, were spent on refining the fit and feel of each piece.
If you want to purchase the diverse range of fleece clothing from Brand A, you can start doing so from their upcoming online store, set to go live on December 23.
