As a fashion enthusiast with a penchant for street style and a knack for spotting trends, Shanghai Fashion Week never fails to impress me. This year was no exception! The footwear game was strong, with PUMA’s resurgence being one of the most noticeable trends. From the classic Speedcat OG to A$AP Rocky’s 3D-printed Mostro and Ottolinger’s golden Mostro Boots, it was clear that PUMA is making a comeback in a big way.
During Shanghai Fashion Week, numerous rising designers showcased their innovative work that expanded fashion’s limits, resulting in a diverse array of shoe styles worn by attendees. TopMob was there, not just to capture stunning street style snapshots, but also to spot and analyze the latest footwear trends among the crowd.
As we navigate through the collection of images, several elements jump out. It’s apparent that PUMA is gaining more recognition, as evidenced in Shanghai. The return of the iconic PUMA Speedcat OG was well received, but so were some daring designs such as A$AP Rocky’s 3D-rendered Mostro and Ottolinger’s golden Mostro Boots. Unconventional boots remained captivating with a diverse array of styles gaining popularity, among them a retro-inspired design from local brand 27QUAI GROSMOTT, which also showcased its innovative sneaker-heel fusion model.
During the Shanghai Fashion Week, attendees welcomed a variety of designer shoes – ranging from collaborative pieces such as Cecilie Bahnsen’s ASICS GEL-QUANTUM VIII and Rick Owens’ vintage sneaker reminiscent of Vans, to boundary-testing designs by Balenciaga. The innovative creations by Kiko Kostadinov for ASICS, particularly the NOVALIS GEL-STYRAX, received applause. Miu Miu in collaboration with New Balance was subtly showcased, while a proud owner of the 2017 COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Air Force 1s embellished by American artist Scott Hove’s dinosaur mold made the sneaker stand out. Take a look at the gallery above for a comprehensive visual overview of the footwear sported during the Shanghai Fashion Week events.
