Wrapping up this week’s musical journey, TopMob presents the standout albums for our newest edition of Top Picks: Fresh Tracks.

As a devoted music enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the spotlight this week is graced by some exceptional artists. Leading the charge posthumously is Mac Miller with his album Ballooneerism, followed closely by Logic’s project Aquarius III and the collaboration “GBP” from Central Cee and 21 Savage, respectively.

Additionally, we have offerings from Mick Jenkins, FearDorian in collaboration with Polo Perks, a joint effort between Oklou and Bladee, Michi’s work, Japanese Breakfast, and Butcher Brown. This diverse lineup promises an exciting musical journey!

Mac Miller – Balloonerism

The much-awaited “lost” album by Mac Miller, titled Balloonerism,, has finally arrived. This is his second posthumous album after the release of Circles five years ago. Originally recorded in 2014 during the production of his mixtape Faces, this project features a collaboration with SZA and Mac Miller’s musical persona, Delusional Thomas. In a statement, his family mentioned that this project held significant importance for Malcolm, as he often discussed its release. Although other albums took priority at the time, such as GO:OD AM, the family decided to officially release Balloonerism, believing it showcases Mac’s diverse musical talents and fearless artistic spirit, given that unofficial versions of the album have been circulating online for years.

Michi – “Snoobie”

As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that Michi, the renowned Stones Throw artist, is set to release her first album titled “Dirty Talk” (out February 28). One of the tracks from the album, “Snoobie,” resonates deeply as it mirrors my own feelings after a heartbreak. Michi poignantly describes it as her moment of anger, saying, “I was furious after being dumped! However, I also saw other remarkable women in my life enduring hardships at the hands of men. It’s astonishing how much power they can hold over me sometimes. I used to claim I detested them, but in reality, I think I adored them too much at times.

Butcher Brown – “take me by the hand”

Butcher Brown, a quintet known for their blend of jazz and hip-hop, unveils their first single “Ibiza” from their upcoming album Letters From The Atlantic (release date: March 28). They explain, “We created this track with the intention of capturing the essence of deep house music, the kind you’d dance to in a New York or UK nightclub. As producers, we envisioned the samples a DJ might use and rework into a rhythm. However, we chose to do it all live, without any samples, giving it our unique twist.” They further add, “This song is a tribute to the DJs and producers who inspire us, such as Theo Parrish, Jazzy Jeff, DJ Spinna, Karizma, and DJ Scratch. We also hope that once they hear it, we’ll be able to make our live debut in Ibiza.
