Beyoncé Sleighs at Netflix Christmas Day Halftime Show with Post Malone, Shaboozey and Blue Ivy

As a die-hard fan who’s attended more than a handful of Beyoncé concerts, I can confidently say that her Christmas Day halftime show was nothing short of phenomenal. It was like a dream come true, watching Queen B slay yet again, this time with a star-studded lineup and a medley of hits that had the crowd on their feet.

It’s possible that the Super Bowl’s half-time spectacle could be overshadowed by the freshly announced Christmas Day half-time show, as it is Beyoncé, the reigning queen of music, who will be performing.

The renowned pop artist delivered an exceptional, glittering performance filled with A-list collaborations from Post Malone, Shaboozey, and none other than 12-year-old Blue Ivy Carter, daughter of Beyoncé. Despite the fact that the primary event at NRG Stadium was supposed to be the Houston Texans versus the Baltimore Ravens football game, the day was undeniably about #BeyonceBowl.

The event kicked off with a prerecorded segment: Donning a white cowboy hat, Beyoncé debuted “16 Carriages” on a white horse, marking her first live performance of songs from her Cowboy Carter album. Later in the show, up-and-coming country singers – Tanner Adell, Tiera Kennedy, Reyna Roberts and Brittney Spencer – joined Beyoncé for their rendition of The Beatles’ “Blackbird.” Their harmonies echoed those of a seasoned girl group, a singing style that Queen Bey is well-acquainted with.

Then the live show began in earnest. In a bedazzled white leotard and matching chaps, Beyoncé performed “Ya Ya” — the track nominated for the best Americana performance Grammy — bringing big energy and vocal precision. Dozens of dancers and musicians performed on the bleachers, giving #Beychella vibes as it harkened back to her groundbreaking 2018 Coachella performance. 

Shaboozey, a singer-songwriter, teamed up with Beyoncé on “Spaghetti” before Post Malone took center stage for “Levi’s Jeans.” Both artists donned denim while performing in front of a truck adorned with the same material. The crowd went wild when young Blue Ivy joined her mother on stage during “Texas Hold ‘Em,” a song that reached the top of both country and pop charts this year, as she danced alongside her.

Beyoncé expressed her immense gratitude at being here in Texas currently, and she thought it was fitting to debut ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ in Texas for the very first time.

Beyoncé’s electrifying performance during the NFL event could have solidified another iconic moment in pop culture history, making the Christmas Day halftime show a highly anticipated spectacle, similar to the prestigious Super Bowl Halftime performance slot. Moreover, the timing is ideal for top-tier musicians since Grammy voting concludes during the holiday season every year. This time around, Beyoncé leads with 10 nominations, including all four country music award categories.

Throughout her entire act, Beyoncé incorporated a rendition of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” as she traveled in a vehicle. To conclude her performance, she gracefully rose above the stage, embodying the divine essence of a musical deity.

“Merry Christmas! God Bless y’all,” she told the elated crowd. “Thank you so much!”
