As a long-time follower of Beyoncé’s fashion evolution and a devoted fan since her Destiny’s Child days, I have to say that this year’s Halloween (or rather, “Beylloween”) has been nothing short of spectacular. Queen B’s homage to Pamela Anderson in the ’90s-inspired Baywatch look was nothing short of iconic and absolutely slayed.
People who follow celebrity fashion and social media trends might recall this fall season as one filled with numerous clever Hollywood Halloween costumes inspired by the ’90s and early 2000s. While Justin and Hailey Bieber opted for a nostalgic family costume based on “Kim Possible”, others took a more iconic approach. After Kylie Jenner donned a costume reminiscent of Demi Moore’s “Striptease” poster, Emily Ratajkowski wore JLo’s famous low-cut green dress; however, Beyoncé offered a creative spin on Pamela Anderson’s ’90s “Baywatch” ensemble – needless to say, she altered the spelling.
In what can only be described as a boss move, Queen Bey was fashionably late for Halloween, posting several images and a music video to Instagram on November 5 that showed off a few of Pamela Anderson’s looks from a decade past. But there are few items of clothing more associated with the actress in that era than the red swimsuit from Baywatch, and Beyoncé made it her own in the best way:

Indeed, a slight alteration of vowels transformed the steamy soap opera into “Baywatch,” and without a doubt, she has captured the swarm’s unwavering focus. It would be quite an honor to find oneself in need of this lifeguard’s rescue from perilous waters. The other photographs of Beyoncé echo Pamela Anderson’s “Barb Wire” character, showcasing a seductive black gown, long black mesh gloves, and knee-high boots. It’s also worth mentioning the striking blonde hair and the remarkable likeness to Anderson’s makeup, featuring lavender eyeshadow.
At the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards, a third outfit playfully echoed the style of the former Playboy Playmate, who was there with her ex-husband Tommy Lee. The “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer transformed the setting to “BTV 9999 No Visual Awards,” which seems like a tribute to her fans, who have been eagerly awaiting music videos and visual content for her albums, “Cowboy Carter” and “Renaissance.
Well, ask and you shall (eventually) receive, I guess, because along with the iconic “Beylloween” images, Beyoncé posted a music video for “Bodyguard” that features her Pam Anderson costumes.

It appears quite clear that Beyonce delayed her Halloween celebrations until November 5th, and the “Bodyguard” video’s call to action for voting only serves to make this delay more compelling. In any case, Beyonce’s visual presentations are always worth the wait, no matter when they arrive.
Beyoncé will forever be the queen, but she faced strong contenders for the best costume this year. Halle and Chloe Bailey channeled Mystery Inc. perfectly as Daphne and Velma from Scooby-Doo, while Kylie and Kendall Jenner and Sabrina Carpenter were a fitting group in their Lizzie McGuire Movie outfits. Meanwhile, Janelle Monáe went all out with her E.T. costume, giving us a truly unique take on the character.
It remains to be seen if Beyoncé’s recent “Bodyguard” video release and “No Visual” mention hint at more content for her fans, the Bey Hive. In an interview with GQ in September, she mentioned that she has held back on releasing music videos because a visual can potentially detract from the quality of her voice and music. Regardless, we’re keeping a watchful eye on this musical legend.
