On May 9, 2025, the Bombay High Court issued a temporary block, stopping Maddock Films from releasing Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, on all digital platforms like OTT, until after an eight-week period following its initial theater release. This decision supported PVR Inox Limited, who took the court action as Maddock Films unexpectedly canceled the film’s scheduled premiere on May 9 for a direct OTT release on May 16 instead.
The legal dispute started when Maddock Films informed PVR Inox of their plan to terminate the contract, using unspecific “national security concerns” as justification. The production company intended to distribute the film on Amazon Prime Video, one of the defendants. However, PVR Inox objected, drawing attention to a signed agreement on May 6, 2025, which mandated a theatrical release followed by an exclusive eight-week period before any digital launch.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned.
