Biblical Drama ‘The Faithful’ Greenlit at Fox

Fox will turn to the Bible for one of its drama series in the 2025-26 season.

The production company has given approval for a limited series titled “The Faithful“, produced by Carol Mendelsohn (known for CSI) as executive producer and Rene Echevarria (with credits in The 4400, Carnival Row) as writer and showrunner. This six-episode series is inspired by the book of Genesis from the Old Testament and will provide a perspective on the events through the eyes of strong and emotional, yet imperfect women who would give rise to the foundations of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, according to the series synopsis.

The series was born out of a preliminary broadcast agreement that Mendelsohn sealed with Fox back in 2022. Fox Entertainment Studios is in charge of its production, while Mendelsohn, her producing partner Julie Weitz, and Echevarria serve as executive producers.

Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network, commented that ‘The Faithful’ delves into the heroic female characters from the Old Testament, offering a fresh perspective on storytelling at Fox. This series epitomizes compelling female-centric narratives, tackling themes as old as time yet strikingly contemporary and relatable. The trio of Carol, Julie, and Rene breathe life into these stories, giving them depth, complexity, intimacy, and a sense of surprise that will make viewers rethink their understanding of these tales through this potent new lens.

As a devoted admirer, I’m excited to delve into “The Faithful,” a narrative that revolves around five remarkable women: Sarah and Hagar, Rebekah, and Leah and Rachel. This captivating tale will delve into themes such as the search for love, the trials of matrimony, the ecstasies and sorrows of parenthood, battling temptation, and discovering faith.

The play will be broadcast during three successive weeks in the spring of 2026, which falls around Passover and Easter in early April. It’s going to debut alongside another fresh series titled “Best Medicine” on Fox’s upcoming schedule.
