Big Brother 26's Final Weeks Are Insanely Boring. Here's How I'd Fix That For Future Seasons

As a long-time Big Brother fan with over a decade of watching under my belt, let me tell you, I’ve seen it all – the good, the bad, and the painfully slow final weeks. This season, though, has been a breath of fresh air, but the endgame is still dragging on like a stubborn relative at a family reunion.

If you’re currently enjoying live broadcasts of Big Brother on Paramount+, I’ve got a question: what keeps you hooked? While Season 26 certainly delivered an exhilarating rollercoaster ride for as long as it could, similar to most seasons of the CBS reality show, the game progressively slows down in the later weeks. Houseguests run out of topics to discuss and plans are all set, making it less engaging. However, I believe there’s a potential remedy.

Among the many reasons I thoroughly enjoyed Big Brother 26 was the A.I. Arena twist, and I believe it should be a consistent element in future seasons. Additionally, I propose that the producers mix up the endgame instead of following the same predictable path. This might result in a more exciting conclusion for the next season, as opposed to the current trend of gradually fading out.

I Think Big Brother Should Start The Finale With Four Houseguests

Imagine if instead of a two-week lull, we had the finale kick off when only four Houseguests remain. In this hypothetical scenario for the current season, I propose that we don’t make this change immediately after Kimo Apaka’s eviction, but rather a few days later. The twist would involve a series of competitions designed to determine the Final Four Head of Households (HOH). Every remaining contestant gets to participate, and similar to Makensy “MJ” Manbeck’s situation at present, they are guaranteed a place in the finale. This way, the excitement and drama stay high throughout the competition.

Following this, instead of the regular veto contest, it transforms into a Final 3 Head of Household (HOH) competition. The last three contestants engage in a series of three challenges to claim the veto. The winners from the first and second competitions then face off in the third challenge. The victor of this final contest has the power to evict one player, reducing the house members to the three who will be voted on by the jury during the finale.

Introducing a final three-way vote among the contestants could significantly alter the voting dynamics, particularly if two allies are counting on support from other alliance members in the jury. This twist would certainly add excitement to the game and potentially shorten it by several weeks. However, it might also result in a more intense finale. Now, let me share another modification I propose to make the endgame of Big Brother more engaging, which is…

Do A Long Finale Episode To Close Out The Game, And Save A Cast Reunion For Paramount+

As a dedicated gamer, I’ve often pondered that the finale night of Big Brother seems overly complex. Why not streamline it? Let’s bring all three finalists into their chairs for the grand event and let the jury grill them on why they deserve to win the prize money. Simple, efficient, and still suspenseful!

Instead of having the entire cast gather for a reunion on the finale night, how about they do a tell-all special a couple of weeks later on Paramount+? We could even film it before the next season starts so that the Houseguests have a chance to watch the episodes first. This way, fans who are disappointed about not seeing the entire cast together right away can still get an in-depth look into what happened during the game.

As a gamer, I’d prefer an exclusive streaming special over the Big Brother finale, where Julie Chen Moonves tries to juggle questions amidst the chaos. It would be far more satisfying to have a dedicated event that tackles all the unanswered questions and delves deeper into the drama at a later time.

It seems extremely improbable that Big Brother would change its Season 26 finale plans at this point in time, but there’s always room for improvement in the next season! I’m merely pointing this out because, despite how fantastic this season has been, the ending hasn’t become any more exciting. I’ll certainly continue watching, though; perhaps if the final moments are adjusted slightly in the next season, it will make for a more enjoyable experience.

Don’t miss the upcoming eviction episode of Big Brother on CBS this Thursday, October 10th at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Once that’s over, you might want to take a peek at the 2024 TV schedule and mark down some shows that seem interesting once this season wraps up.
