In the popular sci-fi show “Silo,” streaming on Apple TV+, two new actors have recently joined the cast for Season 3. According to The Hollywood Reporter, these include Jessica Henwick from previous Marvel series and Ashley Zuckerman from Succession. Set in a post-apocalyptic world where humans live safely underground in a silo, unaware of why or how it was built, this show follows the lives of the last 10,000 people on Earth. Engineer Juliette is investigating the mysterious death of a loved one, which leads her to uncover dark secrets and intrigues within the compound.
As a dedicated Marvel enthusiast, you’d likely remember Simone Henwick for her gripping portrayal of martial arts master Colleen Wing in Iron Fist and The Defenders. I was thrilled to see her potential return in Daredevil: Born Again, given the announcement of many Marvel Netflix heroes making a comeback. However, she wasn’t listed among the cast members. Yet, Henwick has expressed her eagerness to reprise her role as Colleen within the MCU. In addition to her Marvel adventures, Henwick graced our screens as Nymeria Sand, the swift-whipping daughter of Pedro Pascal’s Prince Oberyn Martell of Dorne in Game of Thrones. In her next project, she will portray Helen, a sharp-witted reporter. Unfortunately, another Game of Thrones colleague, Iain Glen, who played Dr. Pete Nichols, met a startling end in the Season 2 finale.
In addition to the cast, Ashley Zuckerman takes on the character of Daniel, a dynamic and career-focused congressional representative. Recognized from his role in Succession as the shrewd political advisor Nate Sofrelli, whose dealings with Shiv Roy were marked by numerous scandals, Zuckerman has also graced our screens in the Fear Street Trilogy on Netflix. Here, he played Nick Goode in Part One (1994), Sheriff Nick Goode in Part Two (1978), and Solomon Goode in Part Three (1666).
The Future of ‘Silo’
Graham Yost is the creator and executive producer of the highly-acclaimed series that currently boasts an impressive 94% rating on the Tomatometer, along with a 64% score on the Popcornmeter, as per Rotten Tomatoes. Notably, Apple TV+ has already greenlit the show for seasons three and four in advance.
At the time, Matt Cherniss, Head of Programming, said:
Looking forward to seasons three and four of the captivating, character-focused sci-fi show, where we’ll see the culmination of Juliette Nichols’ journey, wrapping up Hugh Howey’s trilogy of novels. We eagerly anticipate delving further into the show’s exceptional acting, particularly Rebecca Ferguson’s performance, and the unexpected plot developments, turns, and surprises that this deeply human tale consistently offers.
Season 2 captivated viewers with unexpected plots and deviations from the original books, keeping audiences on their toes who were eager to find out what would happen next. Although some fans may have preferred a more literal interpretation of the novels, this departure allows those still invested in the story to continue enjoying the series. The first two seasons largely adapted the first book, “Wool,” which leaves only two more seasons for the creators to cover the subsequent books, “Shift” and “Dust.” Book enthusiasts are hoping that the show’s writers can effectively tell the rest of the story in the remaining two seasons without hurrying the pace or compromising character development.
Speaking of which, author Hugh Howey has disclosed that he’s currently penning another tale set within the world of his “Silo” series. This announcement is generating quite a buzz among fans, who are eagerly anticipating a possible spin-off series with an entirely fresh ensemble cast. The upcoming book, titled “Shift,” introduces new characters and unfolds in a different timeline, providing ample opportunity for further exploration, potentially even as a miniseries or standalone show.
Excitedly speaking as a cinephile, I must share the thrilling news! Apple TV+ is currently in production for Season 3 of this captivating series we all adore, aiming to complete filming around mid-2025. With that timeline, it’s only natural to anticipate its debut sometime in 2026. The talented ensemble – Rebecca Ferguson, Common, Harriet Walter, Tim Robbins, Chinaza Uche, Remmie Milner, Abi Nash, Billy Postlethwaite, and Shane McRae – is set to return for another enthralling journey.
Fascinatingly, the stars’ representation includes Aligned Entertainment, Gersh, Lisa Mann Creative Management in Australia, Felker, Toczek, Suddleson, Abramson Esq., representing Zukerman, while CAA and Jackoway Austen represent Henwick. Here’s to another season filled with intrigue, suspense, and unforgettable performances!
