Biver Debuts Its First Three-Hand Automatic Timepiece

As a seasoned connoisseur of high-end horology, I must admit that the latest offering from Biver, Geneva-based Maison founded by the esteemed Jean-Claude and Pierre Biver, has piqued my interest. Having spent decades immersed in the intricate world of watchmaking, Mr. Biver’s philosophy resonates deeply with me – a watch that showcases just the hours, minutes, and seconds is indeed the purest form of our art. The Automatique, their first three-hand automatic model, is a testament to this belief.

2023 found me, as a gamer, stepping into the world of watchmaking with the establishment of Biver Maison, Geneva’s newest haute horlogerie brand by father and son duo, Jean-Claude Biver and Pierre Biver. Known for its accessible high-end timepieces, Biver is my creation that embodies years of my expertise in luxury watchmaking.

Co-founder Jean-Claude Biver notes that a watch displaying only hours, minutes, and seconds is the quintessential representation of our craft. By stripping away complexity to reveal its most basic, refined form, it can become a unique work of art, embodying perfection and self-control in every detail.” Also emphasizing that “to play jazz on the piano, one must first grasp the fundamentals of scales and classical music.

Four graceful dress watches, each measuring 39mm across, are showcased within two collections: Gold and Atelier. The Gold Series boasts platinum and rose gold versions, both crafted using their respective materials for the case, accompanied by harmonious dials and an 18k gold minute track styled as a chemin de fer.

The Atelier Series is adorned with unique stone dials and presents two exclusive models: Obsidian and Pietersite. The Obsidian model has a gray tone, achieved through a specialized sanding treatment on the dial. In contrast, the watch face of the Pietersite version displays a deep blue shade, intertwined with swirls of orange and white, giving it a captivating appearance reminiscent of various natural phenomena found on Earth.

These newly introduced watches boast an automatic JCB-003 caliber at their heart, offering approximately 65 hours of uninterrupted power thanks to its two-way micro-rotor made from 22k gold. Ranging from 75,000 Swiss Francs to 121,000 Swiss Francs (approximately $88,975 to $143,546 USD), interested individuals can explore these timepieces further on Biver’s official website.
