As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say that the prospect of human riot shields in Black Ops 6 has me both excited and apprehensive. On one hand, it’s an innovative feature that adds a new layer of strategy to the multiplayer experience. On the other, the thought of using another player as a shield brings back memories of my younger days when I was still learning the ropes.
In the Black Ops Cold War campaign by Treyarch, there was a temporary instance where they incorporated a unique tactic: human shields. This allowed the main character to inflict harm on an adversary, subsequently using that opponent’s body as a protective barrier against further attacks from other enemies.
However, the specific characteristic hadn’t carried over into multiplayer and faded away in the annals of history for the past four years. Nonetheless, Black Ops 6 is addressing this issue, as preliminary gameplay leaks indicate that human shields are being introduced to multiplayer, inciting excitement among players who also yearn for proximity chat.

After a jailbroken PS4 build leak, revealing an incomplete version of Black Ops 6, a video clip suggests that players might be able to grab an adversary tightly against their body for defensive purposes, utilizing them as a protective shield.
The video implies that using a human shield as a final tactic involves killing the enemy surreptitiously from behind. This action allows you to seize control, enabling further pistol shots for additional points, until you deplete your shield’s agony, thus ending its protective role.
It remains unclear at this point how the physics function, as we don’t know if deflected bullets could still cause injury, and it is undecided whether a human shield can flee if the initiator of the finishing move perishes.
Black Ops 6 fans want proximity chat to mock human shields
Players are eagerly expecting that the Proximity Chat feature, which was experimented with in Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer mode, will carry over to Black Ops 6, allowing them to “hear the cries” of enemies they have eliminated.
One fan implored, “Praying that when you perform this action, you’ll be able to converse with the person you’ve startled, and I’d gladly pay a fortune in dollars for that!” Another concurred, humorously noting, “Imagining their terrified reactions would be priceless laughter!”
A supporter suggested humorously, “It’d be entertaining if we could address the entire squad, creating a scenario reminiscent of a movie hostage situation.“
Black Ops 6 doesn’t seem to include proximity chat just yet, but since Treyarch always enjoys incorporating fun elements into their Call of Duty games, it would be wise to stay attentive for any additional content released after the launch.
