As a gamer who’s been around for quite some time, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement when it comes to the return of Wakanda. The MCU has always been a significant part of my pop culture diet, and Black Panther is one of those franchises that truly resonated with me.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe appears ready to return to Wakanda.
It’s been neither verified nor denied by Marvel Studios that a third Black Panther movie is under development, however, on Tuesday, actor Denzel Washington hinted at its existence and mentioned his potential involvement in the project.
In an interview on Australia’s Channel 9’s Today show, Washington revealed that director Ryan Coogler is penning a role for him in the upcoming Black Panther movie.
Speaking about his upcoming projects, Washington expressed that he is currently focused on collaborating with top-notch professionals. He’s unsure about the number of movies he might still produce, but it likely won’t be a large amount. His goal is to take on new challenges and experiences.
He mentioned that he played Othello at 22 and now plans to play it again at 70. Following that, he’s set to portray Hannibal, after which he’s been discussing a film with Steve McQueen. Lastly, Ryan Coogler is penning a role for him in the upcoming Black Panther production.
The Black Panther series has significantly marked its presence within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), with the 2018 movie featuring Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’o, and Michael B. Jordan receiving not just praise from critics but also raking in an impressive revenue of over $1.3 billion at the box office.
Boseman died at age 43 in 2020.
The 2022 film sequel, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” served as a heartfelt tribute to the deceased actor while furthering the narrative of Wakanda and its inhabitants. It also achieved box office triumph.
