As a long-time fan of Blake Lively and her captivating performances, I must say that this recent turn of events surrounding the movie “It Ends with Us” has left me feeling disheartened and disappointed. It’s heartbreaking to see such talented individuals embroiled in controversy, especially when it comes to allegations of harassment and a toxic work environment.
The backstory of the romantic drama film (title omitted) is developing further, as (actress name omitted) recently filed a lawsuit against her co-star (actor name omitted). She alleges sexual harassment and severe emotional distress. This follows months of speculation regarding the movie’s production, during which Lively has faced online trolling, while allegations about Baldoni’s behavior have persistently circulated on social media.
The film features Blake Lively portraying Lily, a woman who encounters and develops feelings for Ryle, played by Baldoni, after relocating to a different city. Yet, their romance takes a turn as Lily’s previous partner re-enters her life, making things more intricate. Surprisingly successful at the box office, this movie capitalized on a supposed rivalry between Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, who was simultaneously starring in Deadpool & Wolverine. In addition, it garnered substantial attention upon its Netflix debut, drawing a large audience during its streaming premiere.
The conversation surrounding the film has persisted for many months now. Earlier in the year, rumors circulated about Baldoni’s behavior on set, with claims he was borderline abusive and difficult to work with, which created a hostile environment not just for Lively but also the rest of the cast. When the press tour kicked off in August, it was evident that there were problems and tension between them. However, sources hinted at “so much more to this story.” It appears now that this is indeed the case.
What is Blake Lively’s Lawsuit Claiming?
As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’ve learned from various sources, including TMZ, that a 37-year-old individual alleges that Baldoni has been involved in a strategic attempt to tarnish her reputation. On the other hand, Baldoni’s team has refuted these claims, suggesting that the actress is merely trying to enhance her already questionable standing among social media users.
In the course of filming “It Ends with Us,” I found it necessary to address some concerns arising from an unsettling environment on set. I asked Blake Baldoni, my colleague, to make certain adjustments in his behavior. Among these were: abstaining from sharing explicit images of women, avoiding discussions about personal sexual matters, and refraining from commenting on my weight or the passing of my father. However, I made it clear that any changes to the intimate content of the film should be limited to what was originally scripted and agreed upon for filming.
Despite every request being granted by the studio, it failed to alleviate the tension on set, particularly between Lively and Baldoni. The lawsuit contains emails exchanged between Baldoni’s publicist and the studio, where they suggested that Lively could be “eliminated” although they couldn’t say “we plan to destroy her.
Baldoni’s legal team has responded to these allegations by stating that the lawsuit is an attempt to “‘improve her tarnished image,’” and that Lively was a “difficult” cast member, regularly displaying “threatening behavior towards not appearing on set, refusing to promote the film, which ultimately resulted in its downfall during release.”
It appears that the poor reception the movie initially faced will likely linger even as interest in the film diminishes over time.
