Amid ongoing legal drama over It Ends With Us, Blake Lively is moving on with her next project.
On a red carpet at the 2025 SXSW premiere of “Another Simple Favor” in Austin, Texas on Friday, the star graced the event alongside fellow cast members Anna Kendrick, Henry Golding, Michele Morrone, Bashir Salahuddin, Alex Newell and Andrew Rannells. Also present was director Paul Feig.
Or, more casually:
At the Friday premiere of “Another Simple Favor” during SXSW 2025 in Austin, Texas, the star showed up with co-stars Anna Kendrick, Henry Golding, Michele Morrone, Bashir Salahuddin, Alex Newell and Andrew Rannells. Director Paul Feig was there too!
Prior to Blake Lively’s appearance, there were hints of her disagreement with the director and costar of “It Ends With Us,” Justin Baldoni. A demonstrator outside the theater displayed a banner reading, “Justice for Justin Baldoni. Blake is not telling the truth.”
or
Before Blake Lively’s debut, there were indications of her feud with “It Ends With Us” director and actor Justin Baldoni. A protester holding a sign outside the theater said, “Justice for Justin Baldoni. Blake isn’t being honest.
Kendrick chose not to discuss the matter regarding the release of his movie with the media, instead opting to leave the red carpet following inquiries from reporters.
Feig and Lively’s co-stars all arrived early, with the group and reporters waiting for the star.
5 o’clock local time saw the energetic arrival. Approximately half an hour post the unrolling of the carpet, she snapped shots not only on the red carpet but also with enthusiastic spectators along the road, as well as Morrone outside the theater.
Before venturing indoors, Lively conducted discussions with the SXSW household staff and Amazon Prime social squad – avoiding conversations with fellow journalists on the red carpet.
Since December, when she first accused Justin Baldoni, her co-star and director from “It Ends With Us,” of sexual harassment and attempting to ruin her reputation, Blake Lively has not been seen in Hollywood life again. However, in February, she and her husband Ryan Reynolds made an appearance at the SNL 50th anniversary special. In the time since the initial accusation, a legal battle between Lively and Baldoni has escalated significantly. Lively filed a lawsuit, and Baldoni countered with a $400 million suit against Lively, Reynolds, and Leslie Sloane – Lively’s public relations representative at Vision PR. This countersuit alleges extortion, defamation, and various other claims related to breach of contract, among others.
Under the title “Another Simple Favor“, making its premiere as the opening night selection for SXSW festival, serves as a follow-up to the 2018 movie “A Simple Favor“. The story now shifts focus to characters Stephanie Smothers (played by Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (portrayed by Lively), who are off to the picturesque island of Capri for Emily’s grand wedding. The wedding is set to unite Emily with a wealthy Italian businessman, but instead, it seems that murder and betrayal have found their way onto the wedding agenda. Unlike its predecessor, which was shown in cinemas, this sequel will only be accessible through streaming platforms, and it’s scheduled to launch on May 1st exclusively on Prime Video.
