Blake Lively Said No To The Met Gala (Allegedly) Before Justin Baldoni Drama, And Now Another Star ‘Mired In Controversy’ Is Skipping Too

A few days ago, it was announced that Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds received a prestigious invitation to the 2025 Met Gala, but they had decided not to attend. It is said that they declined before the legal issues involving Justin Baldoni emerged (even though the backstage drama had been ongoing for some time). However, Anna Wintour has now extended another invite to actress Rachel Zegler, who has recently faced some controversy.

According to an article from Page Six, Rachel Zegler has received an invitation to attend the 2025 Met Gala. However, controversy may arise as there have been whispers of tension between Zegler and her co-star Gal Gadot, who is known for her pro-Israeli views. Contrastingly, Gadot made headlines after expressing pro-Palestine sentiments on a post that was actually about the Snow White trailer.

Currently, the film has earned $169 million at the worldwide box office, which is significantly less than what December’s Mufasa: The Lion King grossed (approximately $722 million). However, Zegler remains a sought-after actress due to roles like those in the successful Hunger Games prequel Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. This popularity secured her an invitation, though she is unable to attend because of a conflicting job commitment in London, where she will be starring in the West End adaptation of Evita.

As a dedicated fan, I must admit that even though BTS drama doesn’t seem to phase Ms. Wintour, we might not recognize some of the more controversial figures on this year’s guest list. Ian Mohr from the outlet playfully hinted at certain “individuals” gracing the red carpet at the renowned fashion event. However, he did mention that there would indeed be people present.

You can count on the Met Gala being star-studded, and any celebs avoiding it this year due to controversy are quick to assure everyone it’s unrelated to the scandal.

It’s noteworthy that Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have previously chosen to miss the Met Gala. Specifically, they didn’t show up for the past two years. One reason behind their absence was because Lively was still in her postpartum period at the time. Lively first attended the Met Gala in 2008, but she also skipped a few years between her debut and this year (2022), where she dazzled in an extraordinary reversible gown.

It’s not uncommon for her to skip events like this. However, given the controversy surrounding Ryan Reynolds’ jokes from SNL50 and the ongoing legal struggles they’re facing, it wouldn’t be surprising if they chose to lay low in public eye for a while. Yet, it’s been reported that their decision was made prior to these events.

This year, Doechii and a few others have confirmed their attendance, but we’ll need to stay tuned to discover who else might join in. As for Zegler and Lively, they likely won’t face the annual speculations that the Kardashians typically encounter regarding the Met Gala.

Some people like Doechii have already said they’re coming, but we’ll see who else joins later. And for Zegler and Lively, they probably won’t have to deal with the yearly rumors that often surround the Kardashians at the Met Gala.
