As a seasoned observer of Hollywood’s dynamic landscape, I find myself deeply saddened by this latest turn of events involving Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. The allegations made against Baldoni are grave and demand serious attention. If these claims prove to be true, it would indeed be shameful for such behavior to persist in any workplace, let alone one as high-profile as a film set.
According to a report from TMZ, Blake Lively has filed a lawsuit against her co-star and director on the film “It Ends With Us”, Justin Baldoni, for sexual harassment and an attempt to tarnish her reputation.
Based on the lawsuit, there were reportedly such dire circumstances during the shoot that an urgent gathering was convened to tackle her allegations of a toxic work atmosphere.
In the lawsuit, it was stated that the points brought up during the meeting were: prohibiting the display of nude videos or pictures of women to Lively; a ban on any further references to Baldoni’s alleged past issues with pornography; preventing conversations about sexual experiences in front of Lively and others; a restriction on discussions regarding cast and crew members’ genitalia; and a prohibition on questions pertaining to Lively’s weight.
The Hollywood Reporter reached out to representatives for Lively and Baldoni.
In a response issued by Jane the Virgin’s lead actor’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, he strongly criticized the claims made by Rachel Lively. He stated that it was unfortunate and dishonest for Lively and her representatives to make such significant and entirely false allegations against Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios, and their associates. This appears to be a desperate ploy aimed at improving Lively’s damaged reputation, which was tarnished by her own comments and actions during the promotion of the film; interviews and public appearances where her words and actions were visible in real-time, unedited, allowing viewers to form their own opinions online.
As a gamer, I’d rephrase it like this: “I want to set the record straight about some false allegations that have been circulating. During the production of our film, we faced numerous threats and demands from Ms. Lively which included her threatening not to show up on set or promote the movie if her conditions weren’t met. To prepare for potential issues during our marketing campaign, we brought in a crisis manager even before the campaign began. This was done in conjunction with our own representative who also worked with Stephanie Jones’ agency, Jonesworks.
More to come.
