Blasphemous is out now on Android, for all you god-fearing heretics out there

  • Blasphemous, the hardcore 2D platformer inspired by religious and Spanish folklore, is out now on Android
  • It boasts all DLC included, support for gamepads and a fully redesigned UI
  • Find it now on Android, and soon on iOS

As a seasoned gamer who’s weathered countless digital storms and emerged unscathed, I can confidently say that Blasphemous is like a dark, twisted prayer answered. With its haunting gothic ambiance, brutal combat, and an unforgiving difficulty level that could make even the hardiest souls cringe, this game has got me hooked since the day it was first announced.

It’s widely acknowledged that organized religion can sometimes feel unsettling, even inspiring horror films like the series based on a frightening nun. However, Blasphemous from The Game Kitchen presents a unique challenge with its ominous gothic setting, intense side-scrolling battles drenched in blood, and high level of difficulty. Oh, and by the way, it’s now available for Android devices!

As The Penitent One, a heavily armored combatant, your mission is to liberate the island of Cvstodia from the clutches of an evil enchantment called The Miracle. In this quest, you’ll encounter grotesque creatures and horrors that blend corrupted faith with Spanish folklore. It’s on you to break the curse, even if it means sacrificing yourself multiple times along the way.

In a user-friendly redesign, Blasphemous now offers an upgraded interface and responsive controls tailored for mobile devices, as well as support for Bluetooth gamepads for players who prefer traditional controls over touchscreens. Notably, the mobile version includes all DLCs, making it an attractive package indeed. It’s quite commendable, isn’t it?

Hail Mary full of Grace

For those using iOS devices, you’ll have to be patient a while longer to obtain Blasphemous, as its launch is scheduled for late February 2025. However, with the overwhelmingly positive feedback from both players and critics, I’d confidently say that the wait will prove worthwhile.

To be honest, I’ve had mixed feelings about mobile platformers. The touchscreen isn’t always ideal for accurate platforming, which I discovered when playing the renowned Metroidvania game, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
