- Blow It Up is a newly-released, physics-based puzzler
- Similar to Angry Birds you blast apart structures filled with enemies
- But now you’ll be able to enjoy gorgeous voxel-based graphics and particle effects
It’s hard to argue that Angry Birds isn’t one of the most significant mobile games ever created. Whether it’s due to its groundbreaking gameplay or the financial impact it had on Finland and developer Rovio, Angry Birds is more than just a game – it’s an industry milestone. It’s no wonder that we’ve seen numerous successors and imitations, but today’s discussion focuses on Blow It Up, which could potentially push this sub-genre to new heights.
At first glance, Blow It Up seems quite typical, following in the footsteps of popular games like Angry Birds. You hurl small characters towards a larger fortress filled with adversaries (easily identifiable by their snotty green color). The goal is to make these structures come tumbling down. Some characters have unique skills that allow you to destroy even more intricate and massive structures as well.
What sets Blow It Up apart? A quick look at the trailer should give you a hint, but essentially, it’s like playing Angry Birds, but with an abundance of stunning visual effects. If there’s one complaint that could be made about Rovio’s extended series, it’s that it hasn’t quite kept pace with our growing desire for destruction.
Blown away
The game “Blow It Up” is launching on consoles and PC today, and I’m delighted to share that a mobile version will be coming out shortly as well. I would speculate that it might be released this year, and given the impressive graphics showcased, we can expect an optimized mobile port to handle the numerous collapsing structures and scattered blocks in this explosion-filled puzzle game.
While you don’t need to constantly monitor the news for updates, consider exploring our recurring feature “Off the AppStore,” which highlights intriguing new games not typically found on mainstream app stores. Instead, they are available through alternative marketplaces or as APK downloads.
