Blumhouse’s The Woman in the Yard Sets Peacock Premiere: When to Watch

Looking for a chilling experience as summer officially arrives? Peacock has got you covered with the exclusive streaming premiere of Blumhouse’s “The Woman in the Yard“. This spine-tingling horror movie, featuring Danielle Deadwyler and Okwui Okpokwasili, is set to join other blockbuster movies on the platform, such as “Wicked Part I”, “Black Bag”, “Nosferatu”, “Dog Man”, and “Oppenheimer”, later this month.

The most recent collaboration between Blumhouse and Universal Pictures, marked by a sense of dread, was penned by debut screenwriter Sam Stefanak and helmed by veteran director Jaume Collet-Serra known for films like “The Shallows” and “Carry-On”. Deadwyler portrays Ramona, a mother who has lost her husband David (Russell Hornsby) in a tragic car accident, leaving behind two children – Taylor (Peyton Jackson) and Annie (Estella Kahiha). Struggling with grief, Ramona is compelled to emerge from her sorrowful state when an enigmatic woman clad in black (Okpokwasili) mysteriously appears on their secluded farmhouse lawn, gradually escalating her ominous warnings.

According to Collet-Serra, anything can be frightening when it comes to his film “The Woman in the Yard”. He finds intrigue in minimizing the intensity and maintaining tension through subtle movements, eerie music, sudden cuts, or even minor details. This project was a unique challenge for him because he could explore the genre with a fresh perspective, incorporating lessons learned from other film genres. In this movie, Collet-Serra aimed to create more complex characters, moving beyond jump scares.
