‘BoJack Horseman’ Creator Sets New Adult Animated Comedy at Netflix

As a seasoned gamer with an affinity for animated comedies, I can hardly contain my excitement for Raphael Bob-Waksberg’s new project, “Long Story Short”. With his knack for creating relatable, humorous narratives about family dynamics, this series seems tailor-made for me.

BoJack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg has settled on his follow-up.

In Essence,, “Long Story Short” is being marketed as an adult-oriented animated sitcom focusing on a family’s life journey. In other words, its tagline explains: “It delves into the common ground, secret humor, past hurts. If you’ve ever experienced the bond of a parent, spouse, sibling, or offspring, then this series is tailored for you, and by the way, why can’t you show them some affection?”

Bob Waksberg will pen, oversee, and serve as executive producer for the upcoming series, similar in origin to “BoJack“. This series comes from The Tornante Company and is set to premiere on Netflix in 2025. “I’m genuinely excited and honored to be returning to what I love best: writing catchy quotes for press releases in the entertainment industry,” Bob Waksberg joked playfully.

Noel Bright from Tornante’s team along with Steven A. Cohen (known for their work on ‘BoJack’, ‘Tuca & Bertie’) will also take up the role of executive producers. Lisa Hanawalt, who has previously worked on both ‘BoJack’ and ‘Tuca & Bertie’, will oversee production and create the unique artwork for this upcoming series. The team is set to work together again with ShadowMachine, who will produce this project from their animation studio in LA. Corey Campodonico and Alex Bulkley will serve as co-executive producers.

Today marks a decade since the debut of BoJack, which was Netflix’s first-ever original adult animated series. At its premiere, it received acclaim and critical recognition. The show primarily took place in Hollywood and focused on BoJack Horseman (Will Arnett), a former 90’s sitcom star struggling to regain popularity. Similar to the current project, BoJack was a production by Tornante TV, and throughout its six seasons, it boasted a voice cast that included Arnett, Aaron Paul, Paul F. Tompkins, Amy Sedaris, and Alison Brie.
