Bon Iver Announces New Music

As a gamer who has been through countless hours of waiting for updates and expansions in my favorite games, I can empathize with the Bon Iver fans eagerly anticipating this new release. The cryptic Instagram post and website revamp have me on high alert, reminiscent of those mysterious countdown timers that often appear before a game’s expansion or DLC reveal. I’m already envisioning the possibilities: a full-fledged album, perhaps an unexpected collaboration, or maybe even a virtual reality experience!

Fans quickly picked up on the fact that Bon Iver had updated his Instagram profile picture and speculated that something was amiss. Indeed, their suspicions proved true, as the elusive artist later shared a sneak peek of an upcoming video teaser for some forthcoming new tunes via his social media platforms this morning.

In simpler terms, the brief video doesn’t offer much beyond confirming that new music from Justin Vernon is imminent. The video is in black and white, featuring him wearing a cowboy hat for a short while, before displaying a pre-save link and “Jagjaguwar,” which is his record label.

When you click the pre-save link, no information about the release appears, leaving fans guessing whether it’s a single or an album. However, Vernon’s overhaul of the Bon Iver website hints that it might be a more extensive project, like an album, instead of just one song.

This upcoming release by Bon Iver will be his first since 2022, where he unveiled the 10-year anniversary edition of Bon Iver. Moreover, it represents the first fresh music from Bon Iver since “AUATC” and “PDLIF”, which were both released in 2020.

As one commenter put it: “It’s autumn he’s defrosting.”
