Bon Iver Releases "S P E Y S I D E," Reveals New Project 'SABLE'

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for finding hidden gems and immersive experiences, I must admit that Bon Iver’s new single “S P E Y S I D E” has piqued my interest like no other. Having weathered my own storms in the gaming world, I can relate to Justin Vernon’s struggle and the need for a creative sanctuary.

The latest single from Bon Iver has been released. Featuring wider gaps between notes, this new track is titled “S P E Y S I D E” and kicks off Justin Vernon’s upcoming Bon Iver project, called SABLE. This project marks his return to music after a five-year hiatus.

The upcoming EP titled SABLE, set to release soon, is planned to feature three tracks, including “S P E Y S I D E.” According to an official press statement, these songs were penned during the years 2020-2023, and were recorded outside Vernon’s hometown in April Base, Wisconsin. The inspiration for these compositions came from various places like Key West, Florida and the Isles of Minneapolis.

On the platform known as “S P E Y S I D E,” it is Vernon’s soulful vocals, complemented by Rob Moose’s viola and extra production from Jim-E Stack, that harmoniously transport listeners into a fresh Bon Iver realm. In this world, Vernon sings heartfelt verses such as “I understand now that I can’t create something perfect, oh, how I long for it,” on the chorus.

According to a press statement, the song “SABLE” serves as an outlet for Vernon to express and explore the overwhelming emotions such as darkness, tension, and anxiety that characterized one of the most challenging phases of his life. These themes are evident in both the lyrics and music composition of “S P E Y S I D E.
