As a film enthusiast who’s spent countless hours immersed in the gritty world of detective dramas, I can hardly contain my excitement for the return of Bosch: Legacy next year! The news that Titus Welliver himself confirmed the release date has only fueled my anticipation.
Enthusiasts have been eagerly anticipating the comeback of the popular Amazon Freevee series, Bosch: Legacy,, following its conclusion late in the previous year. In a recent conversation with Collider, it was none other than Titus Welliver who shared the news, disclosing that Bosch: Legacy is set to premiere in 2025. Thus, we’ll need to keep our anticipation at bay.
Bosch: Legacy has become one of Amazon’s most-watched shows, featuring Titus Welliver as ex-LAPD detective Harry Bosch. This new series serves as a follow-up to the Amazon Prime Video show Bosch, which concluded in 2021. In this continuation, Bosch departs from the Los Angeles Police Department and embarks on a fresh career chapter. As a freelance private investigator now, the sequel series pairs Bosch with one of his past adversaries – powerful defense attorney Honey “Money” Chandler, portrayed by Mimi Rogers again.
It’s now known that Season 3 of Bosch: Legacy will be influenced by Michael Connelly’s novels “Desert Star” and “The Black Ice“. In the former, Bosch partners with Renee Ballard to track a notorious killer, who Bosch has long pursued as his elusive ‘white whale’, responsible for the slaughter of an entire family. The latter storyline sees Bosch delving into the case of a deceased LAPD narcotics officer suspected of corruption and peddling a new street drug called Black Ice.
It seems clear that there’s a lot in store for Harry Bosch when he comes back next year, ensuring both him and the audience remain engrossed.
A Bosch Spinoff Series Is Now in the Works
The achievement of “Bosch” and “Bosch: Legacy” has ignited a franchise growth, leading to a fresh spinoff focusing on another character by author Michael Connelly, Detective Renee Ballard. In the upcoming Season 3 of “Bosch: Legacy”, Ballard will debut, played by Maggie Q who is renowned for her roles in “Nikita” and “Mission: Impossible III”. Titus Welliver, comparing the dynamic between Ballard and Bosch to that of Batman and Robin, stated this during an interview with Collider.
In the year 2025, we first introduced her in episode 10 of Season 3 of Legacy, and I am working on some episodes for the Ballard spin-off. It’s important to keep both universes consistent. Legacy and Bosch are the main source, but the brand is the brand, so her character, Ballard, can’t exist without mine. Maggie Q might give me a hard time for saying that, as she jokingly insists I am the sidekick. But she’s fantastic in her role, and I can’t wait for Season 3 to premiere because we really pushed the boundaries. It’s an exceptionally solid season – one of our strongest, perhaps even our best.
In the meantime, Titus Welliver lends his voice to the renowned comic book character Rorschach in the animated version of “Watchmen.” The first installment, titled “Watchmen: Chapter I“, will debut digitally on August 13, followed by its 4K and Blu-ray release on August 27. A second chapter, “Watchmen: Chapter II“, is scheduled for release later in the year.
