Bottega Veneta Brings the Intrecciato Weave to an Iconic Flos Lamp

As someone who appreciates the fusion of art, design, and Italian craftsmanship, this latest collaboration between Bottega Veneta and Flos has truly piqued my interest! Growing up in the heart of Italy, I’ve always been surrounded by an appreciation for both fashion and design – from the cobblestone streets lined with leather goods boutiques to the sleek modernism of our homes adorned with innovative lighting fixtures.

Recently, Bottega Veneta has teamed up with Italian partner Flos to produce a unique version of the Model 600 table lamp as part of their new design project.

First created by Gino Sarfatti in 1966, this lamp showcased an unconventional design for its time, being more flexible and pliable instead of rigid. Its base consisted of a leather case filled with lead shot pellets, making it simple to set down and adjust the angle.

This project revealed additional connections between the Italian fashion brand and Sarfatti, as both were founded in 1966. The lamp design, created in 1966, shares a visual resemblance to some of Bottega Veneta’s early bag designs from that era, featuring soft, supple forms made from smooth leather, much like the bags.

In this updated model, both the Intrecciato and Intreccio Foulard versions of Model 600 are now available. The original design’s adaptability remains, allowing users to adjust the lamp for either direct or diffused lighting based on its positioning. Both small and large editions are offered, with color choices including black, grey, red, emerald green, and a signature Bottega Veneta green.
