Boy Band Doc ‘Larger Than Life’ Featuring NSYNC, Backstreet Boys Releases Trailer and Premiere Date

As a gamer who grew up in the ’90s and early 2000s, I can’t help but feel nostalgic about the trailer for Larger Than Life: Reign of the Boybands. The documentary promises an inside look at the lives of boy band members, from the Beatles to NSYNC, One Direction, and beyond.

NSYNC isn’t saying “Bye, Bye, Bye” this time.

Prominent individuals from popular boy bands share their personal stories in the upcoming Paramount+ documentary titled “Larger Than Life: The Reign of Boybands“, which will debut on November 12th.

This documentary, by director Tamra Davis (known for films such as Crossroads and Billy Madison), explores the journey of boy bands from obscurity to stardom and back again, featuring iconic groups like The Beatles, Jackson 5, Jonas Brothers, One Direction, and South Korean sensation Seventeen. The film, titled Larger Than Life, offers an inside look at what it meant to be a member of a boy band during their heyday.

The film begins with Donnie Wahlberg from New Kids on the Block expressing, “I’ve always been fond of boy bands. It makes me feel honored to be part of one.

The discussion features perspectives from AJ McLean (Backstreet Boys), Lance Bass & Chris Kirkpatrick (NSYNC) and Nick Lachey (98 Degrees), as they reminisce about their group experiences and influence. Additionally, music manager Johnny Wright, who has worked with acts such as Menudo, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson, and Justin Timberlake, offers his unique insights.

Lachey acknowledges that 98 Degrees kept track of their position on the daily countdown on TRL. He subtly reveals the challenges they encountered by stating, “Being part of a boy band means enduring some extremely tough periods.

The documentary serves as a tribute to devoted followers of boy bands, as evidenced by a fan’s comment in the trailer: “One Direction fans are similar to the CIA,” she says, “we were always watching over them.

As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but see the parallels between my passion for gaming and the bond between boy bands and their fans. Without the unwavering support, cheers, and enthusiasm from the fanbase, we gamers, just like these beloved artists, wouldn’t be who we are today, living, breathing, and thriving in our respective worlds of entertainment.

The film “Beyond the Ordinary” is created by Wright and Van Toffler, under the banner of Gunpowder & Sky. Barry Barclay, Floris Bauer, and Joanna Zwickel, also from Gunpowder & Sky, alongside Bruce Gillmer, Vanessa WhiteWolf, and Michael Maniaci from MTV Entertainment Studios, serve as executive producers.
