As a dedicated gamer and fashion enthusiast with a deep appreciation for unique collaborations that bring together unexpected elements, I am thrilled about Piet’s exclusive collection with Swarovski. Having grown up in Brazil and being deeply connected to its vibrant culture, the themes and stories that Piet tells through their designs resonate strongly with me.
Creative director Pedro Andrade’s São Paulo label, Piet, unveiled an unique collaboration with Swarovski. Their collection carries an intriguing concept: the deteriorating walls of Brazil.
Globally recognized for its collaborations, the streetwear brand is deeply rooted in Brazilian culture. In their latest partnership with Swarovski, Piet introduced an unexpected topic: the decaying walls of Brazil. Creative director Pedro Andrade views this collaboration as an opportunity to share an untold Brazilian tale in a delightful and refined manner. “At Piet, we aim to shine a light on Brazilian narratives and hidden subcultures worldwide. We wish to discuss our daily customs, things that we Brazilians take for granted, yet deeply resonate within our lives.”
In a small collection of six items, Swarovski’s famous crystals are used in unique ways. They can be found in the cross of a peeling saint painting or as if they were new asphalt stones sticking to the toe of a boot. Each piece showcases Swarovski’s mastery in producing top-notch crystals and Piet’s creative designs, which are known for their sophistication and originality.
Andrade discovered an unusual fascination for the diverse and complex textures of walls he encountered in São Paulo and during his travels across Brazil. Over the years, he had amassed a collection of photos depicting these very walls. He admired the way peeling paint revealed layers of colors and how various ads overlapped each other on the surface. This organic art form, created unintentionally by humans, held a special appeal for him due to its vibrant palette that he often found inspiring in his pursuit of color combinations.
When dealing with this topic, Pedro discovered an ideal match to combine Swarovski into his work. He skillfully blended the rough, layered textures of paint, ads, stains, and graffiti with the refined elegance of Austrian-made Swarovski crystals.
“Two distinct kinds of beauty, two separate worlds, were brought together in our alliance, making it exceptional. The collaboration’s standout feature is the boot, adorned with a hand-painted and studded toe cap, which offers an antiquated yet highly refined appearance.”
Six different items make up the collection, with prices varying between $200 and $700 in US dollars. The formal introduction will occur on July 25 starting at 6pm at the Piet Flagship Store in São Paulo, and on July 26 at 10am Brazilian Time (BRT) on the Piet online shop.
