- Brok the InvestiGator is getting a spin-off visual novel to mark the season
- This free-to-play, one-hour adventure sees you finding the true meaning of Christmas
- Just don’t expect any beat ’em-up gameplay
As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised to hear about Brok the InvestiGator getting a spin-off visual novel. Coming from someone who’s played everything from Pong to Cyberpunk 2077, I can appreciate the diversity that this industry offers, and this new venture by Cowcat seems like an exciting addition.
The action-adventure game featuring Brok the Detective Frog, Brok the Investigator, is slated to get a separate spin-off in the form of a visual novel. This free-to-play title will act as a prelude to the primary release of Brok and while it strays from conventional gameplay, it offers a touching Christmas storyline (with a focus on holiday cheer rather than tail tales).
A Brok Natal Tail Christmas
This Brok spin-off isn’t a comprehensive standalone game, but instead offers approximately an hour of gameplay. It ventures into a fresh genre and serves as the inaugural project using Cowcat’s Brokvn Engine.
Point and click
Regarding a swift Christmas present for Brok enthusiasts, it wouldn’t be right to complain about the length of this latest edition, given it’s free. I must say, I appreciate that Cowcat is venturing into a fresh genre instead of sticking solely to the gameplay from the initial release.
To put it simply, there’s not much risk involved in trying out this game. The only reason one might hesitate is if they strongly dislike visual novels. However, if you’re open to the genre and willing to give this unique perspective a try, then why not jump right in?
