Bruce Springsteen shares insights about witnessing Jeremy Allen White’s portrayal of him in the upcoming biographical movie, titled “Deliver Me From Nowhere“.
The movie, penned and directed by Scott Cooper, features White as the renowned musician, focusing primarily on the era when he produced his 1982 album titled “Nebraska.” This album is deeply intimate, with Springsteen admitting to Rolling Stone that it was somewhat strange watching it being filmed because it delves into “some of the most challenging periods of my life.
He mentioned that the film is unique for him since it touches upon some particularly difficult periods in his life. He also stated that if a scene arises which might be extremely personal, he would prefer to step away from set for a while.
He explained that he wasn’t present for certain sequences. He desired the actors to have full creative liberty, avoiding any potential interference from him, so he usually stayed home. If director Scott Cooper required or desired his presence for specific reasons, he made efforts to be there. However, during the initial phase of filming, he was touring in Canada which kept him quite busy on the road for almost a month.
The initial clip from “Deliver Me From Nowwhere” was unveiled earlier this year at CinemaCon, and the formal trailer was released on Wednesday, offering viewers a sneak peek at The Bear’s actor’s portrayal of Springsteen. This includes his rendition of the beloved 1975 hit “Born to Run.
As a gaming aficionado, I can’t keep quiet about my connection to “Deliver Me From Nowhere.” This movie isn’t just another title on my list, but a place where I’ve stepped into Springsteen’s shoes, thanks to his long-time partner and music mastermind, Jon Landau, portrayed brilliantly by Jeremy Strong.
Sometimes, between pressing buttons and navigating virtual worlds, I found myself on the film set. When asked about watching White bring Springsteen to life, the 20-time Grammy Award winner quipped with a chuckle, “I’m certain it’s a harder gig for the actor than it is for me.
During the days I worked on set, Jeremy Allen White was incredibly patient with me. I jokingly told him, ‘Whenever I cause a problem, just give me a signal and I’ll head home,'” Springsteen explained. “On the days I showed up, he graciously put up with my presence. It was simply delightful and enjoyable.
The upcoming movie is based on Warren Zanes’ 2023 book with the same title and is set to premiere in October this year, specifically on the 24th. Joining White and Landau in the cast are Stephen Graham, Odessa Young, Paul Walter Hauser, Gaby Hoffmann, Johnny Cannizzaro, Harrison Gilbertson, Marc Maron, David Krumholtz, and Chris Jaymes.
