Fans of the Star Wars saga are often divided on various topics nowadays, but they all seem to concur that Bryce Dallas Howard is an exceptional director the franchise has been fortunate to have. Her debut in this space opera came with The Mandalorian, where she directed three episodes; one of these, “The Heiress,” ranks among the highest-rated episodes on IMDb. Since then, she’s continued to contribute to the Star Wars universe, expressing her eagerness for more opportunities during a recent interview with MovieWeb.
In a conversation with renowned individual George Edelman, it was revealed that Howard harbors great admiration for the Star Wars universe, an affection that took root at a tender age. When the chance to step into this galaxy arrived, it was a cherished fulfillment for her. “I truly adore Star Wars,” she shared with us. Although there are no immediate plans for her to direct further installments within the enduring series, she expressed a readiness to drop everything else and rejoin if provided an opportunity. “I’d be thrilled to dedicate my life to Star Wars,” Howard declared, hinting at her unwavering enthusiasm.
“It’s truly wonderful to team up with the folks from that collaborative environment. There’s a great deal of caring among us, and it feels like we’re rediscovering our inner child’s innocence and joy. Being part of this shared playground is a real privilege. I’d drop everything at a moment’s notice to be there. My schedule is flexible, and I consider myself readily available. Moreover, I must express my gratitude for the repeated invitations – I feel incredibly lucky already.
Apart from her three episodes in “Mandalorian”, Howard has also directed the second-highest rated episode of “The Book of Boba Fett” on IMDb and an episode of “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew”, titled “Zero Friends Again”, which ranks sixth. Given her success in creating beloved episodes, it’s logical to consider giving her a feature film to lead, though at this point, such a project has not been officially announced. Nevertheless, the idea would undoubtedly be met with excitement if it were to materialize.
Bryce Dallas Howard Says ‘Star Wars’ Helps Her Connect to Other People
Shifting topics slightly, Howard’s newest venture is a documentary film titled “Pets“, delving into the remarkable connections between animals and their owners globally. It’s quite different from the realm of Star Wars, yet it shares a similar charm for her as a director that she found enjoyable.
As you grow older, there’s a tendency to lose touch with the joy and simplicity that comes with fun. Sometimes, fun can skew a bit self-indulgent or complicated. But imagine being able to create a documentary about pets, or even handling something as cool as the Darksaber! I’m referring to those moments that are genuinely delightful and heartening – experiences that make us feel truly human.
Howard often finds that common interests such as pets and Star Wars help her establish deeper connections with others. As a result, these kinds of topics are ones she’s eager to delve into even more in the future. “What I find really captivating about my passion for Star Wars is the shared enthusiasm and the sense of connection it provides,” she expressed, further noting:
When it comes to Star Wars or pets, what I truly cherish at the end of the day is connecting with fellow humans. Life may be intricate and puzzling, but so are people – they are complex yet filled with warmth and humor. I prefer being in environments that reflect this sentiment. Jokingly, I often say that I’m not really drawn to making a drama.
At present, you can stream Howard’s work related to Star Wars on Disney+, a platform where his latest documentary was premiered on April 11. Interestingly, that day is also recognized as National Pet Day in the U.S., making it an ideal choice for entertainment to celebrate the event.
