As a gamer with a rich background in sports simulation games, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of awe and excitement at the prospect of Caitlin Clark, a star on the rise in both basketball and now golf, stepping into the green for her first pro-am. The crossover between these two titans of women’s sports is nothing short of electrifying!
After wrapping up an extraordinary debut season that earned me the WNBA Rookie of the Year title and a spot on the All-WNBA First Team at age 22, I’m savoring some well-deserved relaxation time. Rumors have it that I’m still collaborating with Nike on my signature shoe, but in my spare moments, I’ve found myself drawn to golf! Recently, I had a few tutoring sessions from retired golfer Martha Foyer-Faulconer, and now, I’m all set to participate in my initial pro-am event. Can’t wait to see how it goes!
In an exciting blend of past and present stars in women’s sports, Clark is scheduled to play a round of 18 holes. First, she’ll team up with the current world number one golfer, Nelly Korda, for nine holes, followed by another nine holes with the tournament host and golfing legend Annika Sorenstam. The hype surrounding this tournament has become so significant that the LPGA Tour and its broadcast partner, Golf Channel, have decided to extend their coverage. They will live stream Clark’s pre-round warm-up, which begins before 7AM on Wednesday, November 13, as well as a mid-match interview with her during play. The Golf Channel will also offer viewers live glimpses of the action throughout its “Golf Today” program, airing at 11AM.
From November 14th to 17th, the second-to-last tournament on the LPGA schedule before the CME Group Tour Championship, known as The Annika, will take place.
