Call of Duty confirms Verdansk's return for Warzone's fifth anniversary

As a battle-hardened Warzone veteran with over five years under my belt, this news has me buzzing like a humvee on a desert highway! Verdansk, oh sweet Verdansk, the map that started it all and never truly left our hearts, is making its triumphant return in Spring 2025.

For five straight years, we’ve been immersed in intense Warzone battles. Call of Duty’s second venture into the battle royale genre (or third if you consider the Chinese version of CoD Online) has been a massive hit and remains one of the top-tier live games available.

Over the past two and a half years, I’ve been battling it out in the iconic Verdansk battlefield, and let me tell you, nothing has dethroned this legendary map as the best Warzone release to date. Even with newcomers like Caldera, Al Mazrah, and Urzikstan giving it their best shot, Verdansk remains unshakable at the top.

In the near future, Spring 2025, Call of Duty will bring back its iconic map, Verdansk, after taking inspiration from Fortnite’s initial triumph.

For quite a while now, there have been many whispers about Verdank’s comeback, but when Treyarch revealed their strategies for Urzikstan Ranked matches and the development of Resurgence under Area 99’s banner, it was officially confirmed that Verdansk would reappear.

To mark the fifth anniversary of our Battle Royale game, we’ll be reintroducing the original Warzone map in the spring of 2025. This timeframe is significant because it’s around the same date when our Battle Royale initially launched back in March 10.

This would play into the hands of Season 2 Reloaded, which was aired on March 6 this year.

Instead of discussing the precise version of Verdansk that will be provided, the developers chose not to delve into the details. From its initial conception to its nuke-stricken 1980s remake during the Cold War period, the original map had various iterations.

There’s a good chance that developers could introduce a dynamic map change similar to Fortnite, where we might see rapid updates, with the initial alteration leading to the Stadium opening in just a few weeks instead of making us wait several months.

Regardless of which version appears, or if it’s an entirely new one, the community will devour every square inch of Verdansk’s pavement once it’s rolled out.
