Call of Duty turns into the Matrix for Season 5's weirdest update

As a long-time Call of Duty fan with countless hours spent mastering my aim and strategy, I’m beyond excited for the latest update to Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone: Season 5. The new trailer has me on the edge of my seat, especially with the revamped Atlas POI and the WWE crossover. But what really caught my attention is the introduction of COD Warrior, a mini-game mode that’s giving off major Mario Party and Fall Guys vibes.

I’m currently deep into the final stages of Modern Warfare 3, but my excitement is already building for what’s next – Black Ops 6. It’s not about ending MW3’s journey abruptly; instead, we’re looking forward to more adventures with Call of Duty in 2023. The roadmap promises continued support and gameplay, ensuring that our time with the new CoD title will be even more thrilling.

Activision has unveiled the complete trailer for MW3 and Warzone’s fifth season. The reveal includes an updated Atlas location reminiscent of Verdansk, a surprising collaboration with WWE, and several new maps such as Toonoxide, which bears a resemblance to Borderlands.

COD Warrior is the most exciting thing in the update, wish it was coming to private games

In the detailed description of Season 5, it’s evident that there are many exciting additions in store. One particularly noteworthy feature borrows an idea from Mario Party for a collection of mini-games. Despite Fall Guys’ popular party mode losing some steam, Modern Warfare 3 is introducing a fresh take on the concept.

For Season 5, a new addition is the “COD Warrior” mini-game mode where two teams of two face off in quick, intense battles. The focus is on teamwork as you and your partner compete in a sequence of fifteen distinct weapon-based minigames. Each round lasts between 15 to 90 seconds, and every Operator gets only one life.

In these randomized contests, six participants will be challenged to their maximum capacity as they are split into three teams of two. The team that reaches five points first will emerge victorious. There’s a lot to absorb, with some intriguing aspects such as “Crash the Car!” where you need to damage a vehicle, and “Torturous Equipment!” where everyone is given difficult loadouts to manage.

As a huge fan, I can’t help but be in awe of the enduring impact of The Matrix, especially its iconic “Bullet Time” effect. It’s been a quarter of a century since The Wachowskis first introduced us to this mind-blowing concept, and yet it continues to captivate audiences. In “Bullet Time”, we fans get the chance to put ourselves in the shoes of the characters, testing our reflexes against low-velocity weapons. We picture ourselves executing cool, slow-motion moves as we gracefully dodge bullets with backflips or other agile maneuvers. What a thrill it would be!

Starting July 24, Call of Duty: Warzone’s Season 5 will be available. It remains to be seen how players will respond to this new addition. While it may not be your preferred choice, it promises to provide hours of enjoyable gaming sessions with friends. However, the anticipation for Season 5 has been somewhat subdued, with critics pointing out similarities to previous versions and expressing disappointment over the absence of a Deadpool & Wolverine collaboration.
