Initially scheduled for a grand entrance at the Cannes Film Festival 2025, Alia Bhatt was slated to attend the inaugural ceremony marking her debut at this prestigious international event. According to Mid-Day’s reports, she had plans to jet off during the weekend and grace the French Riviera tonight.
However, due to the current volatile situation in India, Alia has opted to stay put for now. Her team is said to be reviewing her travel arrangements and public appearances carefully, considering the circumstances back home.
Although she won’t be gracing the opening night, there’s a glimmer of hope for her Cannes debut. A source close to the situation shared with the portal that while several events had been planned around her for today and tomorrow, she is still considering attending in the coming days, provided her schedule permits.
Alia was set to represent a high-end beauty brand as their Global Ambassador at Cannes. She was due to join an elite group of ambassadors such as Eva Longoria, Viola Davis, Jane Fonda, Aja Naomi King, Andie MacDowell, Simone Ashley, Elle Fanning, Bebe Vio, and Yseult. Although it’s unclear if she’ll walk the red carpet, this was a significant step for Alia’s global profile. Previously, in 2023, she made her Met Gala debut wearing a stunning white Prabal Gurung dress, which garnered much acclaim and solidified her status as a fashion trendsetter.
Professionally, Bhatt has been achieving notable milestones within Bollywood. Her latest movie, Jigra, premiered on October 11, 2024, receiving generally positive reviews with a special focus on Bhatt’s acting skills.
In the future, it’s been announced that Bhatt will be the leading star in Alpha, a new Hindi-language action spy movie by Shiv Rawail. The movie is slated for release on December 25, 2025, and it represents the first female-fronted film within Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe. Bhatt will take on the role of a top-notch intelligence agent dealing with global political risks, sharing screen time with co-stars Sharvari Wagh, Vicky Kaushal, and Bobby Deol.
