Cannes Mayor Announces Groundbreaking Crypto Initiative for Local Businesses Ahead of Major Ethereum Conference! Don’t Miss Out on This Game-Changing Opportunity!

The mayor of Cannes, David Lisnard, has announced a plan to educate local businesses about accepting digital currency payments, in preparation for the upcoming Ethereum Community Conference that will take place later this year.

Lisnard unveiled this project on LinkedIn, emphasizing Cannes’ dedication to accepting digital currency transactions, which is a key aspect of their larger Web3 approach.

To get ready for the 8th EthCC event happening from June 30 to July 3, 2025, the local administration plans on providing merchants with workshops to adopt cryptocurrency transaction systems.

In the initial meeting scheduled for February 4th at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, we’ll delve into crucial aspects including the technical, legal, financial, and tax ramifications associated with adopting cryptocurrencies.

In addition to the development of a “crypto-friendly” map, attendees of EthCC and tourists visiting Cannes will have access to a helpful guide detailing local businesses that welcome digital currencies as a form of payment.

Preparation for EthCC

At EthCC, Europe‘s biggest yearly Ethereum gathering, it is anticipated that more than 6,500 registered attendees will participate, with the overall attendance likely surpassing 10,000. Lisnard views this cryptocurrency endeavor as a chance for local businesses to connect with a worldwide, tech-savvy market, simultaneously boosting Cannes’ status as a top location for significant events.

Some analysts suggest that Lisnard’s supportive views on cryptocurrencies could be an element of a broader political plan, as he prepares for the 2027 French presidential race.

Although his main objective is to strengthen local businesses and tourism, this project also coincides with the increasing worldwide curiosity about blockchain technology and digital assets.
