'Captain America: Brave New World' Image Reveals Danny Ramirez's Falcon

As a longtime Marvel fan and avid follower of the MCU, I am beyond thrilled to see Danny Ramirez stepping into the role of Joaquin Torres/The Falcon in “Captain America: Brave New World.” The dynamic between Sam Wilson’s Captain America and Torres’ Falcon, as described by director Julius Onah, promises an emotionally resonant film that I can hardly wait to experience.

As a dedicated cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve caught a fresh peek at “Captain America: Brave New World,” and it’s none other than Danny Ramirez stepping into the role of Joaquin Torres, the upcoming Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Intriguingly, this is our first official glimpse of Ramirez as Torres, a character who made his debut in “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.” This series cleverly introduced Torres as a close confidant of Sam Wilson, who managed to survive the Blip and joined forces with him on various missions. The series also showcased Wilson passing down his original Falcon suit to Torres, setting the stage for him to don the wings in “Captain America: Brave New World.

In a first official release, Empire magazine unveiled a picture featuring Joaquin Torres in “Captain America: Brave New World.” The snapshot depicts Torres sprinting alongside Sam Wilson (aka Captain America) on what appears to be a ship within a battle scene hinted at by the trailers, close to the ruins of the Celestial Tiamut. Director Julius Onah discussed the relationship between Sam Wilson’s Captain America and Joaquin Torres’ Falcon, stating that their dynamic will be a significant emotional focus in the film, highlighting the unique big brother/little brother bond between them.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres/The Falcon made his official debut in costume, but this isn’t the first time fans have caught a glimpse of him. In fact, Torres appeared in both trailers for “Captain America: Brave New World.” Earlier this year, a sneak peek at the new Falcon in action was leaked because of a McDonald’s promotional tie-in for the movie. This leak happened almost a year before “Brave New World” was released due to the film being postponed from its initial premiere date.

New Hero, New MCU

Joaquin Torres was initially presented in Marvel Comics back in 2015 through Captain America: Sam Wilson #1. His first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) came just six years later in the series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and now he’s making his big-screen debut in an MCU movie a decade after his comic book introduction. Torres is one of many characters such as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, Riri Williams/Ironheart, and America Chavez who were created following the commencement of the MCU and have since become integral parts of the franchise.

Marvel Studios hit the jackpot when they cast Danny Ramirez as the Falcon, a fact evident from his past roles like the intense aerial combat scenes in Top Gun: Maverick. Interestingly, these scenes were filmed before The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but thanks to COVID-19 pandemic delays, they were released afterwards. Since then, Ramirez has gained immense popularity, with appearances planned next year in Captain America: Brave New World and The Last of Us Season 2. Initially, he was set to act alongside Joaquin Phoenix in Todd Haynes’ gay romance project, but due to Phoenix leaving the project at the last minute before filming commenced, that film has been shelved. Given Ramirez’s rising stardom, it would be shrewd of Marvel Studios to begin planning for him to reprise his role as the Falcon in future MCU projects.
