Captain America: Brave New World Might Be Undergoing More Reshoots

As a seasoned film enthusiast with over three decades of movie-watching under my belt, I have to say that the latest developments surrounding “Captain America: Brave New World” have me both intrigued and slightly bewildered. With its imminent release just around the corner, it seems that this much-anticipated flick might be going through even more reshoots – a situation that’s becoming as common in the Marvel universe as superheroes saving the world!

The upcoming movie titled “Captain America: Brave New World” is nearly here, but it seems there might be additional filming sessions taking place. In the latest installment of the Captain America series, Anthony Mackie’s character Sam Wilson will officially assume the role of Captain America, investigating a plot to assassinate President Ross (Harrison Ford). An unexpected twist reveals that Ross has been transformed into the Red Hulk. The film also features Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader. While much focus is on Red Hulk and The Leader, a group of Marvel villains, led by Giancarlo Esposito’s Seth Voekler/Sidewinder, is also being introduced. Recently, Sidewinder provided an update about “Brave New World” that might cause some concern.

At a recent gathering through the X account Cosmic Marvel, actor Esposito disclosed that he will once again don the Sidewinder costume. He also mentioned “Captain America: Brave New World,” which may suggest additional shooting for the upcoming MCU production. Since Esposito was part of the initial reshoots for “Captain America: Brave New World,” it’s plausible that he might be involved in further filming sessions taking place now. The actor stated:

As a film reviewer who’s had the privilege of being part of the Captain America production, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia as I prepare to return to set next week for some additional scenes. I can hardly contain my excitement at the thought of donning that iconic costume once more!

In a twist of events, Giancarlo Esposito’s comment may not be about reshoots for “Captain America: Brave New World” as initially interpreted. The statement from the X account Captain America News reads, “‘Clarification: Giancarlo Esposito was not referring to reshoots; he was referring to attending #D23Brazil.’” This alignment seems plausible since D23 Brazil is scheduled from November 8th to the 10th of 2024, coinciding with Esposito’s subsequent appearance where he was quoted. It’s speculated that Esposito may be referring to D23 Brazil and could potentially reprise his role as Sidewinder for a presentation, much like David Harbour donned the Red Guardian costume at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 during the Marvel Hall H panel.

Will the Serpent Society be in Captain America 4?

It seems that there might have been a misunderstanding about Esposito’s involvement and the filming schedule for “Captain America: Brave New World,” but it’s still plausible he could be shooting supplementary footage for the movie. The iconic shawarma scene from “The Avengers” was filmed three weeks after its LA premiere, before the movie hit theaters. With around four months until the release of “Captain America: Brave New World,” there’s a chance Esposito could be filming a quick post-credit sequence, potentially setting up a future Marvel Cinematic Universe project. Previously, he hinted that his character would appear in other MCU projects beyond “Captain America: Brave New World.

As for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) content, there’s been a lot of anticipation surrounding Captain America: Brave New World. Marvel Studios has scheduled it to premiere during the Valentine’s Day/President’s Day weekend in 2025, making it one of the initial major event movies for that year. A new trailer for this film could be released shortly and might even debut at D23 Brazil. If this happens, we can expect the trailer to be ready and playing in cinemas before Disney’s highly anticipated holiday releases like Moana 2 and Mufasa: The Lion King in 2024. After a less-than-stellar year for superhero films in 2024, 2025 seems poised to make a comeback with movies such as Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, Superman, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
