‘Care Bears’ Movie in the Works From Josh Greenbaum at Warner Bros.

The Care Bears are set to open their hearts for a new feature project.

Josh Greenbaum is slated to take the helm for the upcoming movie “Care Bears,” which is currently under production at Warner Bros. At this stage, no screenwriter has been revealed for this project, and specific storyline details remain undisclosed as well.

The individuals responsible for production are Chris Bender and Jake Weiner in the case of Good Fear, while Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley handle production for GoldDay. Sean Gorman and Daniel Barnes serve as executive producers for Cloudco. Sheila Walcott manages the feature film project at the studio.

The Care Bears initially made an appearance on greeting cards in the early 1980s and eventually starred in their own television show during the same decade. They have been the center of attention in movies, such as the 1985 animated film “The Care Bears Movie,” which boasts Mickey Rooney among its voice actors. The brainchild of Elena Kucharik and Linda Denham, the Care Bears are lovable characters with belly designs that symbolize their individual traits.

Greenbaum is recognized for works like “Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar”, “Strays” and the documentary “Will & Harper”. Currently, he’s working on the post-production of a pickleball movie titled “The Dink“, featuring Ben Stiller and Jake Johnson. Additionally, Greenbaum is set to direct a new installment of “Spaceballs” for Amazon MGM Studios.

The Care Bears brand is currently managed by Cloudco Entertainment (previously known as American Greetecards Entertainment), the company responsible for the more recent animated show titled “Care Bears: Unleash the Magic“.

Greenbaum is associated with UTA, Entertainment 360, and Lichter Grossman as their representatives. In contrast, Daley and Goldstein are managed by CAA, Fourth Wall Management, and Hansen Jacobson. Lastly, Bender and Weiner have Mortimer PR and Rick Genow & Allison Binder as their representation agencies.

Deadline was first to report on the project.
