I’ve never watched that movie, neither has Carrie. [Laughs.] … I think they approached her for the sequel, and asked if she would join the cast. She replied something like, “The first film is the highest grossing movie of all time. Are you planning to increase my pay?” They responded, “No, we’re not offering any additional compensation.

To put it simply, Carrie Coon appeared to ask for a higher salary when it was time for her to record lines as Proxima Midnight in “Avengers: Endgame“, and it’s not hard to understand why. After all, the previous Avengers film, “Infinity War”, was among the highest-grossing movies ever made upon its release. It seems that Carrie Coon’s negotiations for Endgame weren’t well received by the studio, which is likely why her character, Proxima Midnight, had limited dialogue in the sequel. According to Tracy Letts, this was the case.

Yet, it appears they went ahead and included her in the project anyway, given their ownership over the characters. Frankly, we would have loved to be involved, but that would have meant watching the movies, and honestly, I wasn’t prepared for that level of commitment.

It appears as though Coon and Letts declined participation in those two Avengers films, possibly due to dissatisfaction about Proxima Midnight being portrayed in Endgame without their involvement. Perhaps they are not avid Marvel enthusiasts, unlike many others.
