Carter Vail Gets Real on Sophomore Album '100 Cowboys'

As a hardcore gamer and music enthusiast, I can’t help but be blown away by Carter Vail‘s meteoric rise to fame. Over the past few months, this Connecticut-born musician has captured the hearts of millions with his catchy tunes like “Dirt Man” and “Aliens Ain’t Sh*t.” With a following count in the millions, tours with Yung Gravy, and a nod from Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Vail’s success story is nothing short of incredible.

As a music enthusiast with a soft spot for new and emerging talent, I can’t help but feel exhilarated by the meteoric rise of Carter Vail. Having spent hours scrolling through social media platforms, discovering and supporting independent artists, I’ve stumbled upon this Connecticut-born musician whose catchy tunes have left an indelible mark on my feed and on the internet at large.

Furthermore, the entertaining clips don’t stop there. The quirky pop-rock artist has recently dropped his second album titled: “100 Cowboys” which comprises nine engaging tracks, showcasing his deepest emotions yet.

“Up until ‘100 Cowboys,’ all of my musical creations were birthed from a strong desire to create music, without any particular life experience sparking the inspiration,” Vail explained. “But that changed when I went through an unsettling breakup. Overwhelmed by emotions, I chose to channel them into writing songs instead of dealing with them directly. My roommate and I produced the entire album in just a month.”

Together with Noah Tauscher, the album was created and completed in just four short weeks. All but one of the nine songs were born during this timeframe. The exception is “Nashville,” which Vail wrote two years prior when he was still living in the South and leaving that place behind. This rapid production felt therapeutic for him.

100 Cowboys takes its name from Vail’s love for Spaghetti Westerns, and it’s also a nod to his days recording country tracks in Nashville. “I like how campy old cowboy movies are, and in a lot of ways I think that’s what being a musician is like,” said Vail. “You can be your own persona. A lot of these songs are super personal to me but dressing them up as pop and rock songs is a lot of fun. It’s how I can share this brief period of my life that was really sad.”
