Cavill’s Voltron SHOCK: Amazon Dumps Theaters?!

henchman Henry Cavill, who previously donned the cape as Superman and wielded a blade as Geralt of Rivia,
has multiple significant productions underway for Amazon. One such venture is the live-action Voltron film, which boasts potential for a massive box office success. However, this project might face an inconspicuous end on streaming platforms.

So far, there’s no announced release date for the upcoming Voltron adaptation, but it has gathered an impressive ensemble cast under the direction of Rawson Marshall Thurber for his sci-fi action venture. However, according to a recent report (via GameRant), Amazon might not be planning a theatrical release for Voltron. Instead, they could opt for a direct-to-streaming debut, similar to the remake of Road House starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Doug Liman that was released last year on streaming platforms.

Amazon is planning to bypass traditional cinema release and directly publish “Voltron” on their Prime Video streaming platform instead, going against their initial promise of a theatrical exhibition. This decision might be disheartening for fans anticipating a big-screen showdown with Voltron, as the studio aims to replicate the streaming success that “Road House” achieved, becoming the most-watched movie ever released on Prime Video.

Henry Cavill Has Several Major Amazon Projects in the Works

In this upcoming movie titled Voltron, it’s anticipated that the storyline will resemble the animated series, where five adolescents are mysteriously whisked away from Earth and thrust into a vast cosmic conflict. They find themselves in possession of five massive robotic lions, which they need to coordinate effectively to assemble and summon the powerful figure known as Voltron.

A True Underdog Story and Red Notice director Rawson Marshall Thurber is ready to lead this project, introducing a fresh crew of pilots for a new generation.

Henry Cavill has multiple projects in development at Amazon, one of which is a reboot of the iconic sci-fi action series Voltron. Additionally, he’s set to star in the reimagining of the classic action franchise Highlander, directed by John Wick’s Chad Stahelski, and will be the lead for the long-awaited adaptation of the massively popular tabletop game Warhammer 40,000. Previously on social media, Cavill announced that this series is now moving forward and hinted at what’s to come.

Collaborating with my exceptional team and the creative geniuses at Games Workshop, we’ve been brainstorming within concept rooms, dissecting ways to capture the grandeur and wonder of the Warhammer universe. We’ve delved into a vast array of remarkable characters and studied ancient manuscripts. Our joint efforts have led us to an exciting starting point for our Universe, which has received approval from key figures at both Amazon and Games Workshop. For now, this initial step is under wraps. Keep an eye on this development as we’ll be revealing more details soon!
